In this vital role, you will provide high-quality behavioral support to children with developmental disabilities, including autism, during after-school hours. Your focus will be on implementing individualized behavior plans, assisting with daily living activities, and fostering a positive learning environment. Responsibilities Implement evidence-based behavioral interventions using principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) to promote skill development and reduce challenging behaviors. Collect and record data meticulously on each child's progress, ensuring accuracy for ongoing assessment and care planning. Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as grooming, feeding, toileting, and other self-care tasks. Support children in educational activities, including teaching social skills, communication, and adaptive behaviors aligned with their individualized education plans (IEPs). Maintain confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and managing sensitive medical records and documentation responsibly. Collaborate with supervisors, parents, teachers, and other team members to ensure consistent implementation of behavior strategies. Participate in ongoing training related to behavioral health, behavior management techniques, medical terminology, and care plan updates. Skills Strong understanding of behavioral therapy techniques and applied behavior analysis (ABA). Experience working with children, especially those with autism or developmental disabilities. Ability to assist with ADLs and support children in developing independence. Excellent data collection skills for tracking progress and informing treatment adjustments. Knowledge of medical documentation procedures, medical terminology, and maintaining HIPAA compliance. Patience, compassion, and excellent communication skills to build trusting relationships with children and families. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team focused on behavioral health and special education goals.
