Job Description

Job Overview The Jefferson County Board of Developmental Disabilities is seeking dedicated and compassionate Behavior Aides to join our Bright Promise Center team. In this vital role, you will work closely with children with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, to support their growth and development through evidence-based strategies. The Behavior Aide provides direct support to learners in an assigned unit, helps identify and solve issues with the behavioral, social, and emotional development of learners, and develops meaningful relationships with learners by giving constructive feedback to help them grow and improve. The Aide assists with general unit activities such as preparing materials, supervising learners, behavior management, and sometimes works one-on-one with learners who need additional support. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES
Assists in the implementation of individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs and skill acquisition plans developed through assessment tools, including the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS), to support communication, adaptive behavior, daily living, and social skills development. Assists in teaching children daily living skills, including but not limited to: feeding, toileting and changing, dressing and undressing, and personal hygiene. Supports learners with self-regulations including de-escalation techniques. Assists in loading and unloading of transportation vehicles. Provides supervision to children while they enter, exit, and move about the building, playground area, and other program areas. Assists with fields trips and community activities ensuring learners are safe, and provides appropriate supervision to learners in the community. Assists with completing learner assessments and collects quantifiable data from interventions and reports data to the team. Prepares materials, sanitizes, and organizes learning materials and equipment. Supervises individual learners or small groups of learners independently from the unit leads either in the unit or in other areas of agency buildings or in the community in order to carry out activities identified or planned by the unit leads as necessary.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent is required Ohio State Board of Education (SBOE) Educational Aide Permit is required Experience as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or in a comparable role implementing behavior intervention strategies, collecting behavioral data, and supporting individualized treatment or educational plans is preferred
