1:1 Support Aide / Behavioral Support Assistant

Arka Montessori of Princeton is seeking a compassionate, patient, and dependable 1:1 Support Aide to work closely with a 3-year-old child with autism in a preschool environment. This role is ideal for someone who is nurturing, calm under pressure, and passionate about supporting young children with additional needs. The aide will provide individualized support throughout the school day, helping the child participate safely and successfully in classroom routines and activities. Responsibilities Provide consistent 1:1 supervision and support throughout the school day Assist with feeding, toileting/diaper changes, hygiene, and daily care routines Support emotional regulation and transitions between activities Encourage communication, social interaction, and participation in classroom experiences Help maintain a calm, safe, and supportive environment Follow behavior support plans and guidance from leadership/parents/specialists Redirect challenging behaviors using patience and positive reinforcement Observe and document behaviors, routines, and progress as needed Collaborate with teachers and school leadership to support the child's success Preferred Qualifications Experience working with children with autism, special needs, or developmental delays Background in childcare, preschool, behavioral support, ABA, special education, or related fields preferred Comfortable assisting with diaper changes and feeding support Ability to remain calm, patient, and attentive throughout the day Strong communication and teamwork skills Reliable attendance and consistency are extremely important for this role Skills We're Looking For Patience and emotional regulation Gentle redirection and positive behavior support Ability to read nonverbal cues and sensory needs Flexibility and adaptability Attentiveness and strong supervision skills Compassionate caregiving Understanding of sensory sensitivities and routines Schedule & Environment Preschool/Montessori-inspired environment Full-day support role Candidate must be physically able to sit on the floor, lift up to 40 lbs, and actively engage with a young child throughout the day Bonus Skills CPR/First Aid Certification Experience with AAC, PECS, or visual schedules Experience supporting children with sensory or communication needs We are looking for someone who truly enjoys working with children and understands the importance of consistency, connection, and compassionate care.

Pay:

$14.00 - $16.00 per hour
