This position involves utilizing personal experience with recovery to inspire hope and facilitate positive change in others. The Certified Peer Specialist will work collaboratively with clients, providing guidance, support, and resources to promote their journey towards wellness and recovery. Duties Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals navigating mental health and addiction issues. Utilize crisis intervention techniques to assist clients during critical moments. Employ motivational interviewing strategies to encourage clients in their recovery process. Facilitate group sessions focused on coping skills, recovery strategies, and personal development. Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans that align with their goals. Collaborate with mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients. Engage in crisis management when necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients. Mentor individuals by sharing personal experiences and offering guidance based on lived experiences. Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress within established systems. Qualifications Certification as a Peer Specialist or equivalent experience in mental health or addiction counseling is required. Strong understanding of behavioral health systems and resources available for clients. Experience in social work or related fields is a plus. Proficient in crisis intervention and management techniques. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with diverse populations. Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and understanding towards individuals facing challenges. Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques is highly desirable. Previous mentoring experience is beneficial for fostering client relationships.
