BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN
The mission of Nectar Recovery is to offer the highest quality and professional Inpatient Detoxification and Residential Treatment. We are committed to treating patients and their families with the highest regard and respect, as patients work toward reaching their highest growth potential in their recovery process. This is accomplished through the strict adherence to the highest ethical standards of care and policies and procedures set forth by the California Department of Health Care Services and The Joint Commission (TJC). SUMMARY The Behavioral Health Technicians at Nectar Recovery are responsible for performing advanced indirect and selected direct patient care duties in support of the clinical process in a competent manner under the direction of the Operations Supervisor and/or his/her designee (i.e. shift lead or supervisor).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a Safety Sensitive Job that requires the employee to do one or more of the following: transport patients in company vehicles, handle medication, document medication (quantities, client self-administration, med counts), follow doctor orders for medication, take vital signs of patients. Therefore this position is a Drug-Free position and the employee must refrain from mind or mood altering substances and those that may impair judgment and/or the ability to remain awake for their shift. Orient clients to the facility. Ensure clients receive the highest quality care, follow program policies and procedures, and protect their individual rights. Provide close supervision and monitoring at all times of clients activities to ensure their safety, as well as enforce facility rules. All staff must remain awake for their entire shift. This includes the overnight shift. Supervise and transport clients safely to and from the facility, scheduled recovery meetings, appointments, outings (grocery shopping, church, etc.) and recreational activities (beach, park, hikes, bowling, movies, gym, etc.). Clients at the detox and residential levels of care must never be left unattended. Ensure that client contractual obligations undertaken by the organization are met. Report all house issues/concerns to the Supervisor for repair and verify when completed. Oversee facility safety and security at all times (alarm system, incident reports, etc.). Conduct emergency preparedness drills as required. Ensure clients maintain a clean environment by periodic checks of their room and common areas. Facilitate and document client drug screens (scheduled and random). Facilitate mandatory meetings and verify attendance. Review, monitor, and adhere to medication management protocol for all clients. Must coordinate and update medication orders with appropriate staff and/or pharmacy. Maintain required training for and supervise client self-administration of medication according to program protocols, policies and procedures. Monitor and manage daily client documentation (assess client moods, motivation, and progress towards recovery). Mediate any disputes between clients. Write a daily shift report detailing client activities and enter in EMR. Ensure company vehicle(s) are clean and fueled. Notify the supervisor of any maintenance repairs/concerns. Monitor facility for cleanliness and to ensure a safe environment. Notify supervisor of repairs/concerns, etc. Advise supervisor of any damage to facility, furniture, appliance, equipment, etc. Also advise the supervisor of any shortage of/or need for supplies. Communicate openly with other staff at shift changes and attend regularly scheduled staff meetings. Stay current and up to date on all required training. Maintain a current drug and alcohol counselor certification for am & swing shift. Facilitate & accurately document groups in a timely manner. Maintain a professional, ethical relationship with other staff, clients, and the general public.
DEPENDABILITY
- Employees can be counted on to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner with little supervision. Accepts responsibility when necessary to see that the job gets done. Performs other duties and tasks as required.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education, Training, and Experience Required:
Experience in behavioral health (i.e. substance use disorder, dual diagnosis, primary mental health). RADT, RAC, SUDRC or better active certification or equivalent required for am & swing shift. KIPU experience preferred CPR/First Aid Certification required & renewed every 2 years Current TB Test completed annually For positions/shifts requiring driving: Must possess a valid, Class C California driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
