JOB SUMMARY
Performs select routine tasks related to the operation of rehabilitation services and may assist with patient related activities as assigned and directed by the Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist, and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant as permitted by the applicable State Practice Act.
PERFORMANCE DIMENSIONS AND TASKS
Essential Function 1. Department Support
  • Maintain adequate supply of linens and other materials necessary within the department.
  • Prepare, clean and maintain treatment area and equipment to adhere to appropriate infection control standards, as well as maintain logs to assure compliance.
  • Prepare patients for treatment.
  • Monitor department supplies including checking expiration dates on current inventory.
  • Assist the licensed Therapist or Therapist Assistant with patient care as permitted per state and federal regulations.
  • Helps with instruction of staff in appropriate return patient scheduling and monitors accuracy.
  • Assist with department regulatory compliance including; check and document eye wash station, paraffin wax, electrical panel and cleaning of hot pack tank. 2. Patient Support
  • Assist in language interpretation as needed.
  • Perform general office procedures as directed by the Physical or Occupational Therapist or Department Manager.
  • Assist front office with routine clerical tasks to support the patient care process.
  • Assist with answering phone calls and scheduling appointments.
  • Support revenue cycle clerk in treatment authorizations as needed.
  • Participates in scheduling of new and returning patients.
  • Monitor EMR messages and/or referral data base and schedule referral appointments 3.
Assists clinic manager in orientation of new employees 4. Participate in the in the department quality improvement process 5. Complete all annual mandatory certification and training requirements. 6. Attend and participate in required department meetings 7. Performs other duties as assigned Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Required.
Skill Requirements:
  • Secretarial and/or business office experience
  • Preferred
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Preferred
  • Care and treatment of patients in a healthcare setting
  • Preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Preferred
  • Requires minimum of 2
  • 3 years of previous rehabilitation tech experience
Licensing Requirements:
    None Physical Demands:
    • Constantly required to push/pull and lift up to 35 pounds
    • Required to perform simple motor skills such as standing, walking, writing and use of various types of therapeutic and office equipment
    • Frequently required to remain in uncomfortable positions for long periods of time, such as bending over equipment, counters, and tables and squatting.
    • Required to walk, stand and sit for long periods of time.
    Special Demands:
    • Ability to work with others and to perform a variety of assigned duties.
    Special Considerations:
    • Will be dealing with patients of all ages to include; children/pediatrics, adolescents, adults and elderly geriatrics.
