We provide innovative solutions for individuals facing mental health challenges, including advanced Interventional Psychiatry services such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Ketamine/Spravato for treatment-resistant depression. We are looking for a Psychiatric Technician in our Irvine, Long Beach or West LA office who is passionate about making a meaningful impact and committed to whole-person wellness. In this role, you are the vital link between crisis and stability. Working alongside our High Acuity Response Team (HART), you will ensure that our highest-risk patients receive the seamless, coordinated, and compassionate care they deserve. Job Summary The Psychiatric Technician (Psych Tech) provides direct clinical and supportive care to patients in an outpatient behavioral health setting. This role supports the delivery of safe, timely, and coordinated care for patients receiving behavioral health services, including those experiencing high-acuity or suicide risk. The Psychiatric Technician (Psych Tech) role assists clinicians and the High Acuity Response Team (HART) by facilitating patient monitoring, outreach, documentation, and care coordination in alignment with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Psych Tech plays a critical role in ensuring closed-loop follow-up , supporting safety planning processes, and helping prevent gaps in care for vulnerable patients. Responsibilities Support providers and patients through Higher Levels of Care (HLOC) (e.g., IOP, PHP, in-patient) referrals: Identify patient support needs and connect patients with appropriate resources. Provide required documentation to referral sources. Provide timely status updates to providers. Schedule follow-up appointments as needed. Assist in triaging patient appropriateness at intake: Evaluate whether patients are appropriate for care Provide alternative referral sources when care is not indicated. Communicate findings and recommendations to intake team Help ensure all high-acuity cases meet closure criteria : Patient contact confirmed Disposition documented Follow-up care scheduled Support the High Acuity workflow, including: Monitoring alerts and assigned tasks Assisting with High Acuity Tracker updates Ensuring follow-up deadlines are met Conduct structured outreach for high-risk patients using approved scripts: Confirm identity, location, and call-back information Maintain consistent outreach to patients and follow-up on referral progress. Track missed appointments for high-risk patients and initiate required outreach attempts Update and maintain referral tracking sheets. Document all outreach attempts and patient responses in the Follow-up Log and EMR Assist with completion of letters and forms: Prepare, complete, and process letters, forms, and documentation requested by patients or external organizations. Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner.
High Acuity Support & Monitoring:
Assist in identifying and responding to Moderate, High, and Imminent risk patients under clinician direction. Escalate any safety concerns immediately to the assigned clinician, supervisor, or High Acuity Clinician of the Day (HACOD) Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferably with a major in Life or Psychological Sciences or a related field of study. Previous Psychiatric Technician experience, preferred. Experience in outpatient behavioral health, crisis stabilization, ambulatory care, or high-acuity psychiatric settings. Knowledge of psychotropic medications and behavioral health treatment principles. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR); Tebra experience preferred. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and clinical judgment. Experience working with patients across a broad range of psychiatric diagnoses and acuity levels. Experience supporting intake and medication management workflows. Demonstrated ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor, and interface well with patients in a mental-health setting. Our Values Compassion
