Job Description

Restpadd is a 16 bed inpatient psychiatric health facility in Redding for the acute treatment of adult patients experiencing a mental health crisis. The facility offers treatment of patients from all over northern California and provides a much needed resource to the community. We are currently looking to fill some per-diem positions. You must be available/willing to work weekends. Shifts are 12 hours from 6 to 6:30.
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Clinical Director and other medical staff, the MHT will perform a range of duties related to the care of patients at Restpadd Psychiatric Health Facility. These duties will be conducted in adherence to sound ethical and professional standards. The MHT will work within a locked unit. MHTs may work varying shift schedules including nights, weekends, and/or holidays. MHT tasks may involve volatile patients and/or family members. A MHT may be exposed to illness/disease and work-related stress.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Document patient location and activity every 15 minutes or as indicated by the treatment plan. Provide and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit at all times. Serve meals and snacks as indicated by the program schedule, and clean the kitchen area. Participate in the admission and discharge process as needed. Accurately enter in patient information in the EMR, and document patient belongings. Coordinate and execute group activities such as games, art, and recreation. Maintain a clean environment on the unit, and regularly change linens. Take patient vital signs, and document as per protocol. Assist in transport of patients to scheduled court hearings (Probable Cause, Riese, Writ of Habeus Corpus). Maintain a safe environment during visiting hours. Assist patients with ADL's as needed. Other duties as directed by nursing staff or Administration
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to pass Federal Background check Able to support a patients' weight and push/pull at least 60 pounds Able to understand and work effectively with patients, maintain confidentiality of patient information, effectively manage patients in crisis situations, communicate rules and expectations to patients, keep quality records, and prepare reports as needed Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Ability to be highly efficient, organized and accurate in work Ability to exercise initiative, judgement and decision-making skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent C.N.A. (Preferred but not required) CPR/First Aid certification

$23.00 per hour
