Job Description

Behavioral Health Technician Santa Barbara, CA 93108 From $20 an hour - Part-time From $20 an hour - Part-time The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for the supervision of Stillwater Behavioral Health clients participating in the program's social-model residential treatment setting. The BHT helps to provide a safe, supportive, and caring environment to promote well-being, encouragement, safety, and encouragement, and to support clients in continuing their recovery program. This position is expected to cooperate as a team member with Stillwater Treatment management and clinical staff. The BHT demonstrates cultural sensitivity when working with clients and staff. This employee is knowledgeable of the treatment process along with the problems and issues presented by clients participating in Stillwater treatment programs. The BHT is responsible for providing a healthy, safe, comfortable, and clean residence for clients during their treatment with Stillwater.
QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledgeable with community self-help support programs such as 12-Step AA/NA, Faith-Based, and other support groups. 3. Possess valid driver's license 4. CPR/First Aid Certification 5. Current T.B. clearance 6.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 20 lbs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Technician will be assigned projects, based on his/her level of expertise, that include any, or all of the following job responsibilities. 1. Uphold and enforce the agency's standards, policies and procedures, code of conduct, and rights of persons served 2. Manage and supervise clients by enforcing program rules and guidelines 3. Conduct orientation to new residents, including reviewing safety drills and locations of fire extinguishers, emergency evacuation diagrams, exit routes, evacuation procedures, and first-aid kits 4. Monitor and document client self-administration of medications while coaching clients in self-management. Document medications in accordance with organization's policy on Medication Use. 5. Communicate effectively and develop rapport with clients in a treatment setting 6. Conduct resident drug testing, which includes direct observation, reviewing and reporting onsite test results and/or urine collection procedures for laboratory analysis. 7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with clinical and administrative staff and supervisors 8. Conduct weekly client house meetings to discuss internal conflicts, review house rules, accept requests to see physician, review appointments for upcoming week 9. Responsible for client attendance of daily recovery activities as scheduled. 10. Monitor and report client behavior with medication side effects 11. May provide suggestions to clients relating to personal experience, strength, and hope. 12. Refer clients to his/her therapist/counselor for psychological/emotional issues. 13. Provide safe, supervised transportation for clients to and from off-site appointments, treatment centers, 12-step meetings, recreational outings, and other recovery-related activities. 14. Report all health and safety hazards, facility and/or vehicle maintenance/repair problems to the Safety Officer. 15. Responsible for vehicle upkeep and conformance with Vehicle Safety Binder, if driving. 16. Maintain accurate monthly vehicle safety inspection and mileage records, if driving. 17. Immediately document and report critical incidents, behavioral incidents and medication errors to Safety Officer and/or Program Director. 18. Document all instances of infections diseases as described in infection prevention and control procedures located in Safety Binder. 19. Attend annual health and safety training and practice emergency drills based on outlined procedures. 20. Conduct emergency safety drills when announced by Safety Officer. 21. Participate in scheduled Human Resource, Joint Commission and DHCS standard training sessions. 22. Participate in meal planning and preparation with clients, and ensure each client is upholding their responsibilities to daily chores and housekeeping. 23. Additional duties may be required if deemed necessary by administration.
