JOB SUMMARY
This role is ideal for individuals who are calm under pressure, mission driven, and interested in behavioral health, social services, criminal justice, or recovery work. Overnight Associates play a critical role in client safety, program integrity, and the therapeutic environment. Under the supervision of the Tech Supervisor, the Overnight Behavioral Health Support Associate will provide nightly site supervision and crisis management. The Associate supports the successful functioning and maintenance of both the 707 and 717 facilities during overnight hours. The overnight Associate MUST be available to respond to any client needs. This position must be able to document all client interactions that occur on shift and conduct bed checks, perimeter checks, household tasks, and surveillance camera checks. This position requires strong judgment, professionalism, and the ability to maintain a calm, supportive presence during late night hours. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Ensure adequate security for program residents and property during shift hours. Responsible for dealing with client behavioral and/or medical issues and facility fire, or natural emergencies while on duty. May provide crisis management and de-escalation. Complete staff log and incident report forms, as needed Conduct security checks and bed checks throughout shift at random each night. Assist in meal preparation, household chores, and other duties as assigned by supervisor. Comply with regulatory requirements. Conducts nightly medication audit. Meticulously and accurately handle medication protocols, including careful documentation in electronic health records, auditing, counting, visual inspection, and reporting. Must communicate effectively and be able to use current technology in the following areas: case notes, incident reports, correspondence with community service providers. Maintain professional boundaries and model appropriate behavior consistent with a recovery oriented environment. Uphold NLCS values by demonstrating reliability, integrity, and consistent follow through.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
High School Diploma, GED or higher
REQUIRED
  • verification must be submitted within 2 weeks of hire Completion of addiction counseling program or currently enrolled, preferred Candidates pursuing careers in counseling, social work, psychology, or criminal justice are strongly encouraged to apply
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Certified or registered recovery worker with accredited credentialing board, CCAPP or CAADEE preferred. The following are required for employment and must be submitted after start of employment: CPR/First Aid certification, TB test, Health Screening Clearance, registration as drug and alcohol treatment worker. New Life provides support for required
SUDS/CDAC
registration and offers ongoing training opportunities.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Experience in behavioral health, residential programs, security, caregiving, or crisis response preferred.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Preferred basic knowledge concerning substance abuse disorders and crisis support. Knowledge of addiction, abuse, trauma, mental health, special needs, and the signs thereof. Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, and best clinical practices with a focus on high quality.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred Strong candidates demonstrate maturity, reliability, and a commitment to supporting individuals in recovery.
SKILLS/APTITUDES/TEMPERAMENTS
The Associate avoids dual relationships with clients. The Associate is an authority figure in the house and is in a position of leadership. The Associate will provide appropriate interventions that are positive and loving yet corrective and therapeutic. The Associate will not socialize or spend excessive time with clients to maintain proper boundaries. Skills Strong skills in learning and using various technology platforms. Strong attention to detail and following multiple steps to complete tasks. Ability to present information or ideas clearly in English, both orally and in writing. This includes ability to proofread and use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation, and ability to write correspondence and memos. Ability to understand and follow instructions, reason and make judgments as they relate to the job or situation. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of employees, the public and with clients; to diffuse hostility when needed. Minimal proficiency and/or willingness to learn computer skills is necessary. This includes Microsoft Office, Office 365, Google Apps, and other Web applications. Ability to problem solve and resolve conflicts especially in high pressure situation. Ability to adapt to situations and understand other's feelings and personal viewpoints. Ability to work with and relate to other professionals. Ability to work and function as a team member. Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and consistency in previous roles. Ability to maintain composure and sound judgment during overnight hours with limited supervision.
JOB SETTING
The job is performed in an enclosed climatically controlled office. Work is completed independently and in cooperation with the Operations Manager, Technician Supervisor, management team, and other company personnel, the public and clients.

Normal or corrected talking, hearing and seeing abilities are sufficient to perform the required tasks.
