Job Description

Per Diem, Various hours and shifts a week. Pay Range is between $18.70 - $27.67/hr, depending on years of relevant and like experience. •Range includes per diem differential. +$2.50/hr for weekend shifts. POSITION SUMMARY
As an employee for Behavioral Health Services, which serves the needs of young, middle and older adults, the Behavioral Health Technician implements delegated aspects of patient treatment plans and participates in a therapeutic milieu under the direction of the clinician in charge. The behavioral health technician works closely with patients experiencing problems affecting their mental/emotional well-being such as serious psychological distress, suicidal thoughts and mental health disorders, substance use disorder, and alcohol or drug addiction. Behavioral Health Services encompass promotion of mental/emotional health; prevention of mental and substance use disorders, substance use, and related problems; treatments and services for mental and substance use disorders; and recovery support
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education or Formal Training Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work or preferred. Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.) BLS certification and de-escalation training required by the end of conditional period. Wilderness First Aide required within 6 months for techs working in nature-based programs. Knowledge, Skill and Ability Ability to work in a demanding and rapid changing environment Experience One-year experience in an inpatient and/or outpatient psychiatric facility preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates an ability to set effective limits consistent with hospital philosophy and treatment plans. Demonstrates ability to effectively use de-escalations skills and practices situational awareness to manage milieu and maintain unit safety to attain treatment goals Demonstrates leadership in managing milieu for safety structure to attain treatment goals. Develops, maintains and terminates a therapeutic relationship with patients. Records observation of significant patient behavior through progress notes. Implements program schedule, leads or co-facilitates therapeutic groups and individual activities, and maintains appropriate structure for patients. Assists clinician in charge with patient transportation and maintaining patient safety to off-site therapeutic setting Documents completion of all treatment assignments and 1:1 interaction with patients in the Electronic Health Record.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit. The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed). Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smells and touches.
