Monday, Tuesday, Thursday:
1pm -9:30pm
Wednesday:
11am-7:30pm
Friday:
9am-5:30pm Each schedule includes a half-hour unpaid break. About the Role The Client Navigator plays a key role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for staff, visitors, and community members. This position requires strong situational awareness, calm and confident decision making, and the ability to respond effectively during emergencies. The ideal candidate is a clear communicator, skilled in de-escalation, and familiar with the Hartford community. Ideal Candidate Attributes Calm under pressure Strong communicator Community-minded Skilled in de-escalation Observant and proactive Compassionate and client-focused Key Responsibilities Maintain strong situational awareness to identify and address safety concerns in real time. Provide rapid, appropriate responses during emergencies or incidents. Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, visitors, clients, and emergency personnel. Document and report incidents accurately and promptly. Utilize conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations. Collaborate closely with facilities and operations teams to support overall safety and workflow. Monitor and operate safety systems, including panic buttons, alarms, and surveillance equipment. Make sound decisions under pressure while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor. Support a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all community members. Provide client support aligned with basic case management needs, including helping clients identify goals, navigate services, and overcome barriers to stability. Connect clients to recovery-oriented supports and resources (e.g., treatment providers, peer support, recovery groups, harm reduction services) and facilitate warm handoffs when possible. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills:
Education High school diploma required. Associate or bachelor's degree in safety, criminal justice, human services, or a related field preferred. Experience & Qualifications Previous experience in security, safety monitoring, emergency response, or related roles. Strong familiarity with the Hartford community preferred. Bilingual abilities are a plus. Certifications in CPR/First Aid, Narcan administration, crisis intervention, or workplace safety preferred; willingness to obtain required training if not already certified. Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and composure in stressful situations. Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
