Position Title:
Recovery Support Technician
I GENERAL SUMMARY
To assist in the observation, supervision, and monitoring of clients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent; ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must have a valid Florida Driver's License with 6 points or less in the last 5 years. CNA or one year's experience with direct patient care preferred. No experience required, but preferred in mental health field
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to apply Therapeutic Effective Aggression Management (CPI/CARE) Techniques without limitations. Sedentary-Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Occasional walking or standing. Remaining in a seated position for an extended period. Standing or walking-Standing is to remain on one's feet in an upright position at various times to assist clients. Lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs. Pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs. Reaching overhead to move supplies. The work requires visual acuity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; to utilize computer systems; analyzing data and figures; extensive reading. Works in an air-conditioned environment. OSHA Category III Position will be categorized as category III (involves direct care and routine and potential exposure to blood, body fluids/tissues).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1.0
Assists in daily course of treatment for new and existing clients, observation, and referral of clients presenting for services. For ASU, CCSU, and TGH takes direction from charge nurse and for Screening takes direction from the Screener. 1.1 Vital signs are taken and recorded according to facility protocol and procedure. 1.2 All clients on special precautions (close observation and 1:1) are monitored according to facility protocol and procedure. 1.3 Recognizes signs of aggressive behavior and responds promptly to crisis situations. 1.4 Appropriately utilizes verbal and physical intervention non-violent crisis intervention techniques to redirect and prompt clients to safe and appropriate behavior. 1.5 Completes all shift duties as assigned in an efficient manner and meets all time requirements (15 minutes checks, routine checks, or searches, etc). 1.6 Places clients in seclusion and or restraints in accordance with unit protocol and procedure as a last resort. 2.0 Guides and participates in client therapeutic milieu. 2.1 Readily develops and establishes therapeutic relationships with clients. 2.2 Effectively interacts with client's family and significant others. 2.3 Is familiar with assigned clients' individual treatment plan goals and assists and encourages clients in implementing and carrying out appropriate aspects of the plan. 2.4 Maintains an atmosphere of dignity and respect in all interactions. 2.5 Must be awake and alert at all times. 2.6 While working on any in-patient unit, the employee must follow the directive of the person in charge. 3.0 Prepares written documentation and record keeping for assigned clients. 3.1 Chart entries are factual and concise and documented using the PIP format. 3.2 All entries made in the client's medical record are in correct sequence and according to protocol and procedure. 3.3 Close observation check lists are completed in a timely and accurate manner and according to protocol and procedure. 3.4 Documentation is neat, legible, and in accordance with accepted charting standards. 4.0 Provides assistance for clients who present for services. 4.1 New charts are assembled properly. 4.2 Check for completeness of paperwork. 4.3 Obtains as much general information from the client and family as possible. 4.4 Client orientation to facility is completed in a timely manner according to protocol and procedure. 4.5 Valuables are secured and recorded according to protocol and procedure. 4.6 Client's belongings are checked according to protocol and procedure. 4.7 Client rights and responsibilities are effectively communicated upon admission. 5.0 Transports clients to and from area hospitals for medical clearance, and to other facilities for placement. 5.1 Verbalizes, understands, and adheres to Agency safety practices and transportation policy and procedures. 5.2 Maintains current driver's license. 6.0 Performs other duties as requested. 6.1 Miscellaneous duties are performed according to instruction.

SAFETY/CORPORATE COMPLIANCE
  • Demonstrates compliance with Agency safety practices and proper control of aggression techniques with clients. Compliant with Agency policy and procedures specific to bloodborne pathogens, universal precautions, infection control and personal safety equipment. Reports safety hazards. Properly responds to internal/external disasters according to policy and procedures established.
  • Demonstrates appropriate incident reporting and notification to supervisor in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Ensures client confidentiality by protecting client's privacy and following New Horizons, State, and Federal mandated privacy security procedures and regulations.
All activities are conducted in such a way as to safeguard the confidential status of client and Agency information. Make certain that individual behavior and conversations are in compliance with confidentiality standards within the HIPAA and the Agency's Corporate Compliance Code of Conduct.
  • Demonstrates behavior that recognizes the rights of clients as defined in the Client Handbook and New Horizons Policies/Procedures regarding abuse, neglect and exploitation.
  • Demonstrates compliance with Agency Policies and Procedures.
Adheres to usage policy for computers, internet, cell phones, and other Agency property. Accurately completes time sheets, travel logs and vouchers for reimbursement.

Completion of assigned Training Tier as required. Completion of any specialized training as required for position.
