Work Schedule:
Overnight Shift Sunday-Friday 10:30 p.m. - 06:30 a.m. Position Summary Technician - YCRC provides one-to-one direct care to children/adolescents that are experiencing severe emotional disturbance (SED) or are at risk of becoming SED. Services are provided using the treatment plan, developed by the treatment team including the family.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide services based on the decisions of the treatment team who is responsible for the treatment of the client. Work with the assigned client during crisis situations, during and after crisis situations. Transport children in personal vehicles, when necessary and appropriate. Work collaboratively with the client, family and treatment team to identify treatment goals, objectives and discharge criteria. Participate in quarterly program meetings provided by the YCRC Supervisors for case review, case assignment, program maintenance and operations, as well as training. Technician - YCRC is responsible for reporting significant events to the YCRC Supervisor, Crisis Clinician, and/or the YCRC Director. Attend monthly individual supervision with a YCRC Supervisor for supervision and case discussion is expected. Demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and responsibility by assisting all staff and others during assigned shifts is expected. Inform the YCRC Supervisor of any issue interfering with the operation of the overnight programs, including personnel issues, when appropriate. Complete clinical documentation in a timely fashion as established by the agency. Teach basic life skills. Prepare meals for kids. Wash and dry towels, linens, bedding of the rooms. Wash, rinse, and sanitize kitchen dishes and utensils. Role model positive behaviors and interactions with other staff and clients during activities, mealtimes, and when assisting with chores. Adhere to dress code for the safety of staff and to model appropriate attire for clients. Stay informed of changes in agency policy by reading emails and attending required meetings and supervision. Be aware of ethical behavior expectations and act accordingly. Respect and demonstrate the ability to maintain client confidentiality. Act as an ambassador of Astra Mental Health & Recovery in community settings. Support and actively promote the vision and mission of Astra Mental Health & Recovery Complete required training Work as part of an integrated treatment team collaborating with the individual served, family members or others they want involved in their treatment and other treatment team members (internal and external) to help support the individual in their treatment and recovery. Demonstrate cultural and linguistic competence. Approach interactions with individuals served and colleagues with trauma sensitive lens. Provide services that are recovery oriented and person and family centered, utilizing a strengths-based approach. Provide services to meet the whole health needs of individuals served. Utilize appropriate assessment instruments to help monitor the progress of individuals served and ensure necessary services are received in the appropriate intensity and duration. Utilize Evidence Based Practices (EBPs) as appropriate. Other duties as assigned, as qualified and trained for.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure:
Technician - YCRC must be at least 21 years old, and at least three years older than the consumer; the Technician - YCRC cannot live in the same household as the consumer. High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Must successfully pass the KBI and DCF Central Registry background investigations. Must possess a valid driver's license, a good driving record, current auto insurance and reliable transportation are essential to complete job duties. Successful completion of a TB test is required to be on file before assigning crisis shifts; completion of a health assessment is also required. Must successfully complete Managing Aggressive Behavior, CPR and First Aid, within the first 3mos. of employment. Documentation Training and State approved online attendant care training, Crisis Intervention and Medication Administration prior to providing the service. Technicians - YCRC will attend an orientation regarding ethics and confidentiality prior to working with clients.
Experience:
Two years of documented experience with children with serious emotional disturbance; or have completed two years post-secondary education in a human service field; or have a combination of experience and post-secondary education that totals at least two years. Must exhibit satisfactory written and verbal skills. Must possess and utilize sufficient interpersonal skills to promote teamwork; must be able to collaborate with other team members to deliver optimal services to clients. Exposure and familiarity with MS Office products; ability to type for electronic documentation purposes.

Other Physical Requirements:
Must have sufficient ambulatory capabilities to work with children/youth in the office or community- based settings. This position requires the physical ability to safely restrain children and adolescents exhibiting out-of-control behaviors that threaten the safety of the client or others. Some lifting of 40 pounds or over is required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily facility-based working environment, i.e., school, local community centers, socially appropriate activities and functions, etc., with some possibility of working at FSGC in programs that the client may be attending. The position requires flexibility in scheduling; risk of exposure to aggressive and/or acting out children and youth, and exposure to low socio-economic homes and neighborhoods. Most of the services occur at the physical site of YCRC, away from the child's home, with some exceptions depending on the need of the child as detailed in the Crisis treatment plan. Mental Health Technicians are required to frequently use a laptop to complete documentation and maintain communication through e-mail. For On- Call (Part Time) staff, they are required to be on call for 16 hours total in each month, on weekends (Saturdays and/or Sunday).
