Job Description

Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Service Provider to join our team. The Direct Service Provider (DSP) plays a vital role in supporting children and adolescents in a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF). The DSP provides daily supervision, behavioral support, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). Working under the supervision of a qualified Mental Health Professional (MHP), Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP), or Nursing Staff, the DSP ensures a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment that promotes emotional stability and personal growth for residents. Duties Provide direct care and supervision to residents in accordance with their individualized treatment plans. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, dressing, eating, and personal care. Support IADLs such as room organization, laundry, and participation in group routines. Implement behavioral interventions and positive reinforcement techniques as directed by the treatment team. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident behavior, progress, and incidents per facility policy. Participate actively in treatment team meetings to provide input on resident progress and behavior. Promote and model appropriate social skills, communication, and coping techniques for residents. Assist with transportation of residents to appointments, school, or recreational activities as needed. Ensure the environment is safe, clean, and conducive to therapeutic living and learning. Monitor and report any changes in mood, behavior, or functioning to supervisory staff. Respond appropriately to crisis situations using approved de-escalation and safety techniques. Encourage participation in group, recreational, and educational activities to promote skill development. Support residents in following daily schedules, routines, and treatment goals. Adhere to all facility policies, confidentiality standards, and LDH licensing requirements. Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation immediately according to state law and policy. Participate in ongoing staff training including trauma-informed care, CPI, and emergency procedures.
Requirements Education:
High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related human services field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum one year of experience working with children/adolescents in a behavioral health, residential, or developmental setting preferred.
Certifications:
Current CPR and First Aid certification required (or obtained within 30 days of hire). CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or equivalent training required (provided by employer if not certified). Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record (if transport duties are assigned).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of trauma-informed care and therapeutic communication. Ability to remain calm and professional in crisis situations. Strong communication and documentation skills. Compassionate, patient, and able to establish supportive relationships with youth. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team . Familiarity with LDH standards, HIPAA regulations, and client rights in residential treatment settings.
