Job Description

Job Description:
Psych Tech The essential function of this position include, but are not limited to, implementing group activities and documenting patient participation and behaviors within a behavioral health program. Responsible for help keeping the unit safe.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health or recreational therapy field. Experience working in the mental health field preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Implement group therapy
  • Maintains records pertaining to patients' behaviors
  • Communicate and demonstrate a professional image
  • Participate in clinical and administrative staff meetings, as scheduled
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal relations
  • Communicates information accurately and effectively to treatment team, to patients, families, and to other appropriate agencies
  • Monitors the milieu in order to maintain a safe environment
  • Identifies and intervenes appropriately in any potential crisis. Possess effective skills in crisis intervention
  • Keeps updated on the use of nonphysical as well as physical management techniques and implements using appropriate judgment and according to established current policy
  • Coordinate unit activities as appropriate
  • Maintains patient dignity and rights as well as maintaining confidentiality
  • Documents according to policy
  • Knowledgeable about mental health code and patient rights
  • Follows medical center and FHPCC policies and procedures
  • Has working knowledge of computers, phones, and the equipment on the unit
  • Knowledge of probate court activity and legal processes as related to the mental health patient
  • Responds to all disasters and codes promptly
  • Additional duties as assigned

None Work Environment and Activity:
Works in a clean-well lighted environment. Range of mobility is necessary such as standing, walking and bending. Normal hearing, speech, and vision are necessary. Must pass SPA training and CPI training. PPD skin test required annually.
Pay:
$18.00
