Job Description
Join a Team That Makes a Difference in Northern Michigan Grand Traverse County is looking for a motivated, organized, and customer-focused Environmental Health Technician to join our Environmental Health team. If you enjoy helping people, working in a fast-paced environment, and supporting programs that protect public health and the environment, we want to hear from you. This role supports essential county programs including Well & Septic permitting and Soil Erosion & Sedimentation Control, while delivering exceptional service to residents, contractors, and community partners. What You'll Do Process permits, applications, renewals, and environmental health records Assist customers in person, by phone, and via email Handle payments and daily reporting Support field inspections and permit issuance as needed Collaborate with a dedicated public health team to keep projects moving efficiently What We're Looking For Strong communication and customer service skills Excellent organization and attention to detail Ability to multitask in a busy office environment Background or coursework in environmental studies, biology, engineering, or related field preferred Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required Why Join Grand Traverse County?
