Job Description

What We Offer Novant Health is seeking Patient Safety Attendants to provide continuous observation and support for patients who require close monitoring to ensure their safety. Safety Attendants play a critical role in maintaining a safe patient environment , assisting with basic care needs, and promptly communicating any changes in patient condition or behavior to the nursing team. What You'll Do Provide continuous observation of assigned patients to prevent falls, self-harm, or disruption of medical devices Ensure the patient environment is safe and free of obstacles Assist with basic patient care , including feeding, hygiene, and comfort measures Take vital signs and blood glucose checks Respond to call bells and patient needs Answer phones and assist with basic unit support as needed Report changes in patient behavior, activity, or condition to nursing staff
Schedule & Shifts Night Shift:
7:00 PM - 7:00 AM New hire classes start every other Monday Full-Time Requirements (per 6-week scheduling period): 2 Mondays 2 Fridays 4 weekend shifts Holiday requirement: 2 major and 2 minor holidays
Part-Time Requirements:
1 Monday 2 Fridays 3 weekend shifts Holiday requirement: 1 major and 1 minor holiday
What We're Looking For Education :
High School Diploma or GED, required.
Experience :
Previous hospital experience, preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
De-Escalation Techniques (within 90 days of employment), required. Life Support Responder (within 90 days of employment), required. Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) Training (within 90 days after completion of De-Escalation Training), required. Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing as applicable. Is knowledgeable regarding guidelines for infection control, body substance precautions, patient safety, and body mechanics. Maintains acceptable standards set by those guidelines. Ability to work with all age group patients or act as a companion. Basic computer skills for documentation. Why Choose Novant Health?
