(FCR) is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Technician to lead facility operations, workplace safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, and preventive maintenance efforts across our Head Start and Early Head Start locations. This leadership position plays a critical role in ensuring our facilities, grounds, vehicles, and work environments remain safe, healthy, well-maintained, and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. What You'll Do As the Environmental Health & Safety Technician, you will: Lead facility inspections, safety assessments, and risk management activities Ensure compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, OSHA regulations, licensing requirements, and safety codes Coordinate facility repairs, preventive maintenance, and improvement projects Oversee contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure quality and timely completion of work Support procurement activities related to maintenance, repairs, inspections, and facility improvements Supervise Environmental Health & Safety Specialists through coaching, training, and performance management Partner with Center Managers and program leadership to maintain safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environments Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence throughout the organization What We Offer Competitive salary Comprehensive benefits package available on Day One Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance 401(k) Retirement Plan Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays Professional Development and Training Opportunities Meaningful work supporting children, families, and communities Opportunity to make a lasting impact through Head Start and Early Head Start programs Minimum Qualifications Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, environmental health and safety, building operations, maintenance, project management, or a related field At least two (2) years of supervisory experience Experience overseeing facility maintenance, contractor management, safety compliance, and building operations OSHA 30-Hour Certification required within twelve (12) months of employment Relevant education, technical training, military service, apprenticeships, certifications, and professional experience are valued Equivalent combinations of education, experience, certifications, training, military service, and demonstrated competencies will be considered Special Requirements Valid North Carolina Driver's License Acceptable driving record and criminal background check Ability to travel throughout the agency's service area Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and perform facility inspection and maintenance activities Ability to work both indoors and outdoors under varying environmental conditions
