Our program combines behavioral health treatment, individualized care plans, Clinical Excellence, and strong accountability to help adolescents develop emotional regulation skills, healthy relationships, and the ability to transition to lower levels of care. Position Summary The Behavioral Intervention Specialist (BIS) is a key clinical support role responsible for providing hands on behavioral intervention, crisis response, and daily support to adolescents in a residential treatment setting. The BIS works closely with the clinical director, therapist, nursing, house managers to maintain a safe, structure, therapeutic environment aligned with CARF, state of Nevada HCQC, and SAI policies and procedures. This role is ideal for someone experienced in adolescent behavioral health, crisis intervention, de-escalation, and working with youth who present with high acuity behaviors. Key Responsibilities Behavioral Intervention & Crisis Response Provide direct on the floor support to residents by assisting with ADLs, guiding them through daily programming, and ensuring a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment at all times. Provide immediate intervention during escalated behaviors, including aggression, self-harm behaviors, property destruction, AWOL attempts, and peer conflict. Utilize trauma-informed verbal de-escalation, CPI techniques, and SAI crisis stabilization protocol. Support residents through one-on-one interventions, redirection, behavioral coaching, and coping skill development. Conduct brief mental status observations and notify clinical leadership of concerns. Assist in implementing safety plans, behavior support plans, and other clinical directed interventions. Therapeutic Support & Programming Model appropriate social, communication, and problem-solving skills for youth. Facilitate or co-facilitate groups when needed, including coping skills, life skills, conflict resolution, and social skills. Participate in treatment planning meetings, key staffing, or clinical updates as requested.
Support residents in daily routines:
hygiene, education blocks, meals, chores, and structured activities. Communication & Collaboration Work closely with the clinical team and nursing to ensure continuity of care. Communicate clearly and effectively with house managers, mental health technicians, and leadership regarding youth behavior, safety concerns, and environmental risks. Document all interventions, incident reports, and behavioral observations accurately and promptly in the EHR. Safety, Supervision & Compliance Maintain line of sight supervision and adhere strictly to staff to youth ratios at all times. Conduct room checks, property searches, and safety sweeps when needed. Uphold HCQC requirements, CRF behavioral health standards, and all SAI policies. Support the safe environment by reporting hazards, staffing concerns, or risks immediately. Team Support & Professional Conduct Provide support and guidance to all staff during difficult behaviors. Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and clinical in-services. Maintain professionalism, calm leadership, and trauma informed communication. Support a positive, resilient, solution focused team culture. Qualifications Certified behavioral health technician, residential treatment experience, or similar. Experience working with adolescents with complex trauma, high risk behaviors, emotional dysregulation, or mental health diagnosis. CPI, handle with care, or other de-escalation training, or willingness to obtain upon hire. Knowledge of state and federal regulations, mandated reporting, and trauma informed care Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED (Associates or Bachelors preferred but not required). Valid driver's license. Ability to pass background check and drug screening. Ability to stand, walk, or assist in crisis situations for extended periods. Work Environment Fast paced adolescent residential setting Exposure to youth with emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric challenges. Requires composure under pressure and strong teamwork. Schedule & Compensation Full time and part time positions available Hourly rate: $23 to $25 depending on experience and certifications. Shifts day shift or swing shift. Per diem work is also available. Pay training, supervision, and advanced pathways.
