Duties Description Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center (KFPC) has immediate full time job opportunities for Direct Care Staff to work as Security Hospital Treatment Assistants. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply. Security Hospital Treatment Assistants (SHTA) are part of a multidisciplinary team focused on providing compassionate care and support to individuals with serious mental illness who are involved in the Criminal Justice System. As a SHTA at KFPC, you will provide direct patient care to individuals in the Regional Forensic Unit, including: Supporting patient health and safety Assisting individuals with personal care tasks Teaching individuals' daily life skills like personal hygiene and nutrition Accompanying individuals to treatment, activities, and appointments on and off facility grounds Observing individuals' responses to treatment and documenting observations. Attending treatment team meetings and sharing observations on progress toward recovery goals Assisting in crisis and emergency situations to protect the welfare of individuals, staff, and others.
NOTE:
1. If appointed, you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement
  • Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Security Hospital Treatment Assistant if they have: High School or High School Equivalency Diploma and 2 years of full-time direct patient care experience working in a health care or behavioral health setting; or Associate's degree and 1 year of full-time direct patient care experience working in a health care or behavioral health setting; or Bachelor's degree OR Candidates within State Service can be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.

License Requirement:
