Role:
The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges by providing direct care and assistance under the supervision of clinical staff. This position focuses on implementing treatment plans, conducting clinical assessments, and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients in various behavioral health settings. The technician is responsible for maintaining accurate clinical documentation and assisting with crisis intervention and management to stabilize patients during acute episodes. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute discharge plans that promote continuity of care and recovery. Ultimately, the Behavioral Health Technician contributes to creating a therapeutic environment that supports patient progress and positive mental health outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in a related field preferred. Certification or training in behavioral health, crisis intervention, or related clinical areas. Experience working in Alcohol/Drug and/or Mental Health Experience Ability to maintain detailed and accurate clinical documentation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and clinical staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant Certification. Previous experience in a clinical or residential behavioral health setting. Certification in CPR and First Aid. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct patient care and support to individuals with mental health and emotional disorders. Maintain thorough and accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and discharge plans. Respond promptly and effectively to crisis situations, utilizing crisis intervention techniques to ensure patient and staff safety. Assist patients with daily living activities and promote therapeutic engagement through structured activities and communication. Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay current with best practices in behavioral health care.
Skills:
The Behavioral Health Technician utilizes clinical documentation skills daily to ensure all patient interactions and care activities are accurately recorded, supporting continuity and quality of care. Crisis management and intervention skills are essential for responding to emergencies and de-escalating potentially volatile situations to maintain a safe environment. To observe and report changes in patient status, contributing valuable information to the treatment team. Knowledge of mental health conditions, informs compassionate and effective patient care and support. Friday•11 pm to 7 am Saturday•11 pm to 7 am
