Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Emergency Services Specialist is responsible for assisting with the management of the facility, Crisis Hotline, and providing supervision of day-to-day client activities. The ESS will also assist in developing and providing interventions according to each client's personal care plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions are duties, which are essential or primary to the position or the reason the position exists. An individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. 1. Provides oversight of client activities, schedules, and facilities under guidance of Site Supervisor and in accordance with class 1 residential mental health housing guidelines. Completes routine monitoring and observation throughout shift. 2. Operates Crisis Hotline for Scioto, Adams, and Lawrence Counties in accordance with legal guidelines and best practice standards. Completes written log of all calls received including problems, interventions, and call disposition. Maintains ongoing training requirements for hotline operation. 3. Gathers information on individuals and identifies strengths, weaknesses, needs and problems for referral to the facility, and in intake into services. Develops personal care plan in collaboration with clients. 4. Assists with personal care services including self-care, grooming, eating, hygiene education, budgeting, interpersonal relationships, and self-administering medications. 5. Provides written documentation of client activity for identification of ongoing personal care needs, and narrative consistency within the electronic health record. 6. Provides input to treatment team regarding the developments of treatment plans and client progress. 7. Monitors daily client schedules and coordination of daily activities. Facilitates communication between inter-agency and interdisciplinary resources on behalf of clients. 8. Ensures safety and cleanliness of facilities within established agency and OhioMHAS standards. Alerts Site Supervisor of needed resources and supplies. 9. Reinforces consistency of client care by providing a shift report to incoming and outgoing colleagues.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Secondary functions are duties, which are not exclusive of the position, can be performed by other positions; however, secondary duties are to be performed for the efficiency of The Counseling Center, Inc. 1. Performs any other duties assigned by the Program Coordinator/Director.
COMPETENCIES 1.
Demonstrated knowledge of substance use and other mental health disorders. 2. Ability in effective communication, interpersonal skills. 3. Ability to make decisions and to demonstrate sound judgment. 4. Ability to effectively manage self and tasks for maximum efficiency. 5. Ability to complete all required documentation in accordance with agency policy. 6. Knowledge of federal and state laws, and public and private resources pertaining to class 1 residential mental health facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE 1.
High-school diploma or equivalent (GED). 2. Valid Motor Vehicle License and ability to maintain insurability preferred. 3. Crisis Hotline operation. 4. Maintain CPR/First Aid training. 5. Fire and Other Disaster Procedures 6. Obtaining Medical and Psychiatric Assistance 7. Client Rights 8. Abuse and Neglect 9. Assistance with Self-Administering of Medication 10. Maintains all other applicable agency trainings.
