Assists with patient safety issues such as adherence to patient fall protocol, use of restraints, and behavior that is dangerous to the patient's condition. Notifies the nurse and/or staff when these behaviors or verbal expressions of such behaviors by the patient occur. Interacts appropriately with the patient and/or family.
For Telesitter role:
Continuously observe assigned patients via video monitoring platforms. Maintain constant situational awareness for multiple simultaneous patient feeds. Operates telemonitoring software, camera controls, and communication systems. For Emergency Departments 2003475 & 2003485 only: Administers a variety of patient care and special procedures utilizing unique skills/training to this unit. Operates a variety of specialized equipment requiring special knowledge, skills, and training unique to this unit Reports to assigned leader Will have extended time sitting in a chair while performing job duties. This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. Please consult the Physical Demands Project SharePoint site or contact Risk Management/Employee Health for additional information. May be exposed to noise, disagreeable odors, and potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, and chemicals. Contact with adolescents and adults who may exhibit physical or behavioral outbursts related to a mental health condition. Will be required to float to all units. Must follow standard precautions. Must be 18 years of age. Must be able to communicate effectively in English and to see and hear. Required to take call a minimum of one shift (12 hours) per week. Successful completion of sitter orientation required within 90 days of hire.
