Job Description

CONCERN is a non-profit human services organization dedicated to providing child welfare, juvenile justice, and behavioral health services to children and their families. Our Crisis program is searching for a part-time variable Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS) to join our team in the Towanda area. The ideal candidate will thrive in environments where no two days are the same and have a passion for helping our community members through times of distress. Crisis Intervention Specialists are available 24/7 on a rotation basis to assist our consumers in times of need. Youll work to determine the immediate safety steps to be taken and provide appropriate interventions and resources that address the current mental health needs. These services are provided over the phone to callers through our hotline and mobile when needed often to further assess needs in a clinical environment like a hospital setting. The hours for this position are variable and dependent upon needs for coverage. Perfect opportunity for someone looking for supplemental income! Education and Experience Bachelors degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Gerontology, Anthropology, Political Science, History, Criminal Justice, Theology, Nursing, Counseling, Education or a related field. OR Registered Nurse OR High School diploma or equivalency and 12 semester credit hours in Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Gerontology or other social science and 2 years of experience in public or private Human Services with 1 year of mental health direct care experience OR Consumer or family member who has 1 year of experience as an advocate or leader in a consumer or family group with a High School diploma or equivalency. Other Requirements You will maintain required state and federal clearances. You will maintain a valid drivers license and have the ability to travel to consumer locations as assigned. You will have strong organizational skills. You will be comfortable using technology for documentation. You will have strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills. You will have the ability to be both a team player and work well independently. Duties and Responsibilities During non-operating hours of the clinic, participates in on-call rotation to include evenings, holidays, and weekends in accordance with program expectations. Telephonic and/or Mobile Crisis Intervention responses are required during these time periods. Obtains and/or reviews initial intake/referral/payer information and documents in Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Conducts follow-up calls to consumers of Crisis Intervention services as requested by Clinical Supervisor and in accordance with practice standards. Supports, educates, and assists with training/mentoring other on-call staff responsible for working in the crisis program. Maintains proper documentation of all consumer related contacts and ensures documentation is concise, timely, and congruent with practice standards for crisis service delivery. Hours of Work Schedule and hours are varied as part of an on-call rotation.
