Please Note:
This is a 40-hour position. The schedule is on First Shift, 6:00 AM- 2:00 PM, with Week 1: Sunday/Wednesday & Week 2: Tuesday/Saturday as the days off.
Required Qualifications:
Skilled in dealing tactfully with others and interact with individuals who are under physical and/or emotional stress. Ability to apprehend trespassers and violators of the law. Talent for maintaining a calm manner, making decisions, and acting quickly in dangerous, stressful, or emergency situations. Capacity to exercise discretion in handling confidential information. Demonstrated ability in documenting reports to gather information through questioning individuals, conducting interviews, and examining records and documents.Preferred Qualifications:
Prior health care facility security experience. Ability to solve problems and relate to hospital staff, constituents, and other community members in a positive and professional manner. Talent for recognizing the cultural diversity of the campus community and ensure sensitive and equitable treatment of all who work and visit the campus. About Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH): Located on over 20 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient, and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations. Applicants must have (A) at least one (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time, experience in work involving the protection and/or security of buildings, equipment or individuals, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Applicants applying for positions within the Department of Youth Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Public Health are required to obtain and maintain a valid certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and first aid. Additionally, applicants applying for positions within the Department of Youth Services are required to obtain and maintain a valid certification in crisis intervention and suicide prevention.Substitutions:
I. An Associate's degree or higher in a related field may substitute for the required experience. Incumbents may be required to have a current and valid motor vehicle driver's license at a class level specific to assignment. Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
