Job Description

Description Job Purpose The mental health technician is a member of the multidisciplinary team and works under the direction of the registered nurse to provide direct care and support for behavioral health patients. Responsibilities Complete routine observations and safety checks of patients and environment of care. Report behavioral changes to the assigned Charge Nurse. Participate in the patient treatment planning as needed. Organize and encourage patient participation in unit activities. Facilitate group activities and provide recreational activities under the supervision of a Recreation Therapist. Obtain vital signs and assist with activities of daily living as necessary. Provide behavioral health crisis intervention as necessary. Complete necessary documentation in electronic health record as indicated. Maintain patient confidentiality. Requirements 1-2 years' experience working in a behavioral healthcare setting; preferred High School Diploma or equivalent Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Current BLS certification required Handle with Care certification required within 90 days of hire Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., occasionally carries up to 20 lbs., occasionally pushes up to 200 lbs., and frequently pulls up to 50 lbs.
