- Full-time About Discovery Point Retreat Discovery Point Retreat is one of Texas's leading Joint Commission Accredited addiction treatment centers, dedicated to helping individuals and families overcome substance use disorders and build healthier futures.
Our evidence-based programs span the full continuum of care — from medical detox and residential treatment to partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs — all delivered by a compassionate team of clinicians, nurses, therapists, and recovery professionals. With locations serving the greater Dallas area, we are proud to maintain a 60-day readmission rate of just 10%, compared to an industry average of 22%. Many of our team members are in recovery themselves — because we believe that lived experience is one of the most powerful tools in this work. Position Overview As a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) — also known as a Recovery Coach — you are the frontline of client care in our residential treatment environment. You will provide direct supervision, emotional support, and structure to clients as they navigate their recovery journey. This is more than a job; it is a calling to be a consistent, compassionate presence for people at their most vulnerable. We are actively hiring for all shifts including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends. Full-Time and Part-Time positions are available with an immediate start date. What You'll Do Supervise clients during all daily activities including meals, group sessions, recreational time, and transportation. Conduct regular room checks, headcounts, and safety rounds in accordance with facility protocols. Provide emotional support to clients and serve as a positive role model reinforcing healthy behaviors and professional boundaries. Lead or co-facilitate recovery-oriented activities, educational groups, and recreational outings. Document client observations, incidents, and interactions accurately and promptly in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Report behavioral or medical concerns to clinical and nursing staff immediately. Assist with client intakes and discharges, including orientation and belongings searches. Enforce facility policies and schedules while maintaining a trauma-informed, respectful approach. Transport clients safely to recovery-related appointments, step-down programs, and essential services. Provide crisis intervention support and escalate emergencies to supervisors as needed. Help maintain a clean, therapeutic, and organized environment. What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent required. 1+ year of experience in residential treatment, mental health, behavioral health, or human services preferred (but we will train the right person). CPR/BLS certification required — or must be obtained within 30 days of hire (we'll help you get certified). Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record preferred. BHT certification, Peer Recovery Coach credential, or related training is a plus — not required. Must successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening. Ability to work early mornings, evenings, overnight, and weekend shifts as scheduled. Passion for supporting others in recovery — lived experience is valued and welcomed.
