Job Description

Homeward Bound Inc. is seeking mental health technicians for its crisis residential and crisis respite units. Individuals on these units typically have a mental health diagnosis and some have been chronically unhoused for a significant length of time. Qualified individuals for these positions will have a passion for helping others, the ability to be patient, a desire to see them succeed, and a high school diploma or GED. There are weekday openings from 3pm-11:30pm and 11:00pm-7:30am, and at various times on Saturdays and Sundays. Here are some of the duties: Establish and maintain resident rapport with every client by sharing knowledge of personal living skills with clients both in groups and on an individual basis Complete administrative intake forms with every new client Complete 15-minute observation logs for every client on the unit Accompany clients to meals, outdoor breaks, and other areas throughout the facility as needed Facilitate psychosocial groups on a daily basis and complete the documentation for group notes Prepare for new clients and participate in the new client search and inventory process Assist in discharge process for clients as needed including re-inventorying their belongings Provide safe transportation in the company vehicle to drop off and pick up clients as needed Have a current drivers license and up-to-date personal liability insurance Audit client charts as requested Keep consistent communication with supervisors when crises occur Facilitate self-administration of medication with clients during regularly scheduled and unplanned medication times Be comfortable dealing with individuals who have experienced significant amounts of trauma and be prepared to assist in verbally de-escalating clients Be adept at navigating the department's electronic health record Be able to collaborate well with other team members as well as be a part of an interdisciplinary team Passion for helping others The ability to be patient Desire to see others succeed High School or GED required Must have reliable transportation and If in a program of substance recovery, must have at least one (1) year continuous sobriety.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY
Possess good oral and written communication skills. Observes client confidentiality requirements. Adhere to facility Policies and Procedures. Demonstrate good interpersonal relationship skills with clients and staff members. Performs assigned duties and responsibilities in a timely manner. Possesses the ability to control problem situations in a calm and directive manner. Possesses the ability to establish and maintain a rapport with the clients. Possesses the ability to motivate, confront, and self-disclose in an appropriate manner. Demonstrate warmth, realness and empathy. Willing to upgrade knowledge and skills through continued education and training.
