Job Description

Locke A. Taylor DVM & Associates is seeking a motivated, self-directed Canine Rehabilitation Technician to take ownership of our growing rehabilitation service. This position is ideal for a Licensed Veterinary Technician, veterinary technician student, or rehabilitation professional who is passionate about helping patients regain mobility, function, and quality of life. We are looking for someone who wants more than just a job—we want someone excited to build, grow, and champion a rehabilitation department while delivering exceptional patient care and client education. Position Overview The Canine Rehabilitation Technician will provide comprehensive rehabilitation services for post-operative, neurologic, orthopedic, geriatric, and performance patients. This individual will play a key role in the continued development and success of our rehabilitation program. Primary Responsibilities Manage day-to-day rehabilitation patient care and treatment plans Assist in the growth and development of the rehabilitation department Take ownership of scheduling, patient follow-up, treatment recommendations, and client communication Perform and document rehabilitation treatments and patient progress Develop and demonstrate therapeutic exercise programs Assist with therapeutic laser treatments, PEMF therapy, stance analysis, and other rehabilitation modalities Educate clients on home exercise programs and long-term mobility management Maintain rehabilitation equipment and treatment areas Collaborate with veterinarians to create individualized treatment plans Help identify opportunities to expand services, improve patient outcomes, and grow the department Required Qualifications Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Currently enrolled Veterinary Technician Student with relevant experience Strong patient handling and nursing skills Excellent communication and client education abilities Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently while collaborating with the veterinary team Passion for rehabilitation, mobility medicine, and improving patient quality of life Preferred Qualifications Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) or Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) Previous rehabilitation, sports medicine, orthopedic, neurology, or physical therapy experience Experience developing therapeutic exercise programs Familiarity with therapeutic laser, PEMF, and mobility assessment tools Experience tracking patient outcomes and creating long-term treatment plans The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who: Takes pride in building and growing a service Enjoys educating clients and celebrating patient success stories Is proactive and solutions-focused Wants to become the go-to resource for rehabilitation within the hospital Is committed to advancing their skills and knowledge in veterinary rehabilitation What We Offer Established and growing rehabilitation program Therapeutic laser, PEMF, stance analyzer, and rehabilitation equipment Opportunity to help shape the future of rehabilitation services within the practice Continuing education support Employee pet care benefits Collaborative and supportive veterinary team Opportunity for advancement and leadership within the department To Apply Please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your rehabilitation experience, professional goals, and interest in helping grow our rehabilitation department.
