Job Description

About the Role Are you confident, compassionate, and able to lead in a structured mental health environment? The H.U.F. Center is seeking a high-energy, emotionally intelligent Group Facilitator to support adults with serious mental illness in a Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) program. This is frontline behavioral health work—you'll lead groups, support daily functioning, and help members build the skills needed for independence and stability. This role requires professionalism, strong boundaries, and the ability to stay calm and effective in challenging situations. What You'll Do Facilitate Structured Groups Lead psychosocial and psychoeducational groups daily Teach coping skills, emotional regulation, and independent living skills Maintain group structure, engagement, and participation Provide Direct Support Assist members with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Independent Living Skills (IADLs) Support hygiene, routines, and personal accountability Model appropriate behavior, communication, and boundaries Support Community Integration Supervise community outings and appointments Encourage positive social interaction and community involvement Transport members safely using agency vehicles (if approved) Maintain Safety & Respond to Behaviors De-escalate challenging or volatile behaviors Respond appropriately to emotional or behavioral outbursts Follow all safety and crisis intervention protocols What to Expect A fast-paced, structured, and team-oriented environment Daily interaction with individuals experiencing serious mental illness Situations that may include verbal escalation, behavioral challenges, or hygiene-related needs A role that requires consistency, emotional stability, and professionalism Some Saturday shifts required What Makes You a Strong Fit Calm, confident, and able to lead with authority and compassion Strong boundaries and professionalism Ability to manage conflict and de-escalate situations Reliable, patient, and team-oriented Passion for working in community-based mental health Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Experience in mental health, behavioral health, or human services preferred Valid Virginia Driver's License with a clean driving record Must be able to obtain and maintain: CPR/First Aid Certification Handle With Care (or equivalent crisis training) TB Screening Criminal Background & Central Registry Clearance Benefits & Perks Health, Vision, and Dental Insurance Life Insurance Paid Time Off (PTO) 401(k) Retirement Plan Training Reimbursement & Professional Development Pet Insurance Growth Opportunities within the organization
