We're looking for compassionate and dedicated PSAs to join our ABHS Detox team, helping provide care and support for our clients and community. As a PSA, you are a vital part of our team, ensuring the safety and well-being of both staff and clients receiving behavioral health treatment for substance use and mental health disorders in an inpatient environment. This role may involve direct client care.

Saturday & Sunday, 7:00 AM

PM What You'll Do:
Monitor clients for behavioral changes or inappropriate behavior under the guidance of management. Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to respond to situations effectively. Accurately document client behavior, interventions, and progress both verbally and in writing to clients and the treatment team. Respond to client needs and maintain a safe, orderly environment. Utilize seclusion and restraint in emergency situations in compliance with ABHS policies and WAC regulations. Coordinate with medical staff and, if necessary, outside law enforcement to ensure safety.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required; NAR or CNA preferred. Two years' experience in psychiatric, mental health, or closely related patient care (college-level coursework in social science may substitute). Training in managing aggressive behaviors, security management, physical restraint, personal protection, and crowd management. CPR/First Aid certification. Agency Affiliated Counselor Certification preferred. Strong emotional control, de-escalation skills, integrity, professionalism, and compassion. Meet necessary health and physical requirements.
Health & Physical Demands:
Mentally and physically fit to respond to potentially volatile situations. Able to sit, stand, walk, run, and sprint at least 100 yards. Able to lift a minimum of 125 pounds and safely engage in client restraint when necessary.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a behavioral health treatment unit with clients who may exhibit challenging behaviors. Involves direct care interventions such as moving, transferring, containing, or restraining clients. May include outdoor client escorts in various weather conditions.
Essential Functions:
Ensure the safety of clients and staff and intervene safely with high-risk behaviors. Protect employees and clients from acts of physical violence. Use de-escalation skills and the least restrictive interventions possible. In emergencies, utilize seclusion and restraint safely and appropriately, considering the client's age, size, condition, and history. Follow ABHS' Seclusion and Restraint Policy and relevant WAC regulations. Recognize and report significant changes in client condition and communicate therapeutically. Maintain professional boundaries, listen to client concerns, and refer appropriately. Follow written and verbal orders, ensuring clients' needs are met with dignity and respect.
