Experience 0•1 year Save Job Facebook Email Copy URL Raptor Education Group, Inc. (REGI) is seeking a dependable, dedicated, and compassionate Avian Rehabilitation Technician . The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in wildlife conservation and native bird rehabilitation. This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on Wisconsin's native wildlife through rehabilitation and public outreach. REGI is a non-profit organization dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned native bird species and public education on wildlife and conservation issues. REGI provides medical treatment, food, housing, and professional care for 800-1000+ federally protected birds annually with the goal of releasing these birds back to the wild. Position Title Avian Rehabilitation Technician Position Description The Avian Rehabilitation Technician provides daily care for injured, and orphaned native birds through patient care, medical treatment support, facility maintenance, and public communication.

Primary duties:

Answering calls and assisting members of the public regarding injured and orphaned wildlife Admitting and assessing avian patients Administering medications and assisting with medical treatments under supervision Preparing diets and feeding patients according to established protocols Cleaning enclosures, treatment areas, and rehabilitation facilities Safely managing and transporting avian patients Maintaining accurate patient records Assisting with the daily care and husbandry of REGI's permanent educational raptors as needed Supporting seasonal increases in-patient admissions during the spring and summer months. This is a full-time, permanent position at REGI's facility in Antigo, Wisconsin. The typical schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday , with rotating weekend and holiday duties. Extended hours required during the busy spring and summer rehabilitation season.

Qualifications Preferred qualifications include:

Bachelor's degree in biology, wildlife ecology, wildlife rehabilitation, zoology, captive wildlife management, or related field; equivalent education and experience considered. Strong interest in wildlife conservation and avian rehabilitation Excellent communication and people skills Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Honest, dependable, hardworking, and eager to learn. Ability to perform physically demanding work in a demanding environment. Ability to regularly lift and carry up to fifty pounds. Ability to walk, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods. Valid driver's license and clean driving record Previous experience with avian species, animal husbandry, rehabilitation, or animal care is beneficial but not required.
