Behavioral Health Tech/Caregiver - Adult Family Home Care Space - Adult Family Home Milwaukee, WI Job Details Part-time | Full-time $14 an hour 22 hours ago Qualifications Care documentation Working with seniors Patient interaction Aseptic technique Meal assistance Full Job Description Position Summary We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and dedicated Caregivers to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with behavioral health needs, dementia, developmental disabilities, physical impairments, and older adults requiring assistance with daily living activities. Caregivers play a critical role in promoting dignity, independence, safety, and quality of life while providing person-centered care in a residential home environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct care and supervision to residents in accordance with individualized care plans. Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and personal hygiene. Support individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges by utilizing patience, empathy, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed care practices. Provide specialized care and support for residents living with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory loss, or cognitive impairments. Recognize and appropriately respond to behaviors associated with dementia, including confusion, wandering, agitation, sundowning, and memory-related challenges. Administer medications as prescribed and document medication administration according to established procedures. Assist with mobility, transfers, repositioning, and ambulation while following safe lifting and transfer techniques. Monitor residents for changes in physical, mental, emotional, or behavioral conditions and report concerns promptly. Encourage participation in recreational, social, and therapeutic activities that promote engagement and well-being. Provide companionship, emotional support, and meaningful interaction to enhance residents' quality of life. Prepare nutritious meals and snacks while adhering to dietary restrictions, physician orders, and resident preferences. Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment through housekeeping tasks, including laundry, cleaning resident areas, dishwashing, and waste disposal. Complete required documentation accurately and timely, including progress notes, incident reports, medication records, and communication logs. Maintain resident confidentiality and uphold resident rights at all times. Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established safety procedures and protocols. Qualifications and Experience Previous experience working with seniors, individuals with behavioral health conditions, dementia, developmental disabilities, or physical impairments is preferred. Experience in memory care, Alzheimer's care, mental health support, or residential caregiving is highly desirable. Knowledge of person-centered care principles and behavioral intervention strategies is preferred. Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional during challenging situations. Familiarity with medication administration procedures and documentation requirements. Experience with meal preparation and accommodating dietary needs and restrictions. Ability to safely perform physical caregiving duties, including lifting, transferring, bending, standing, and assisting residents with mobility. Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with team members and healthcare professionals.
