- Potential for an annual bonus after 3 years About Beginnings Birth Center Beginnings Birth Center is a freestanding birth center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, committed to high-quality, evidence-based midwifery care and professional independence.
- Antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care
- Newborn care
- Family planning and routine well-woman care The Practice Environment At Beginnings, midwives are trusted to practice to the full extent of their education, training, and licensure.
You will have:
- Time to know clients and provide continuity of care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum
- The ability to educate thoroughly and partner with families in real decision-making

The fellowship includes approximately:
- 8-10 clinic days per 4-week period
- 8-12 twenty-four-hour call shifts per 4-week period
- Participation in team and practitioner meetings
- Required emergency training days and drill days
- Weekend call every 2-3 weekends
- Holiday coverage in rotation with staff CNMs Transition to Staff Midwife Role
- The fellowship is designed to transition into a full-time Staff Certified Nurse-Midwife role after 12 months, contingent on the fellow remaining in good standing.
- Orientation during the fellowship lasts no longer than four months.
- Following orientation: o Independent call is expected o Independent clinic functioning is expected o Ongoing consultation and support are provided as appropriate If transitioned into the Staff CNM role, no additional orientation period is provided.
- Master's degree (required)
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing
- Certified Nurse-Midwife certification through the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)
- Active RN and APRN licenses in the State of Colorado (or pending)
- Meets continuing competency requirements of Colorado and AMCB
- Current NRP and BLS certifications
- Commitment to trauma-informed care
- Ability to be added to the practice's malpractice insurance policy Preferred Experience, Skills & Qualities
- Previous experience in a community birth setting
- Strong focus on safety and client/family experience
- Ability to remain professional and compassionate in high-stress situations
- Desire to positively impact a small organization
- Knowledge of complementary therapies and holistic health CNM Responsibilities
- Participate in direct patient care and on-call rotation
- Manage care across maternity, newborn, and well-woman services in accordance with ACNM, AABC, and Beginnings Birth Center standards
- Perform clinical skills as outlined in the CNM Skills Checklist
- Practice evidence-based care consistent with national standards
- Maintain a working cell phone with hotspot capability during on-call and patient admissions
- Supervise orientation and functioning of birth assistants
- Assume delegated operational responsibilities, including acting in the Director's absence
- Participate in administrative duties such as staff meetings and chart reviews
- Engage in continuous quality improvement, emergency drills, and in-service programs
- Maintain certifications and required CEUs
- Serve as an advocate for nurse-midwifery and community birth
- Participate annually in: o At least one professional organization o One community outreach activity o One liaison role with a local organization o One peer review forum Commute / Relocation Requirement
