Job Description
Functioning within the Health System's mission, vision, values, policies and procedures, the Nurse Intern functions as a partner to the Registered Nurse with the goal of providing quality patient care. In addition to patient care, the Nurse Intern transcribes physician orders and performs a variety of clerical tasks as needed.
Must have basic computer skills and EMR (electronic medical records) experience. Must be able to print and write legibly and accurately. Possess the ability to calculate simple mathematics and follow instructions.
Education:
Additional education in medical terminology and/or clerical skills is preferred. Must successfully complete LMHS Sec/PCT orientation program and demonstrate competency on all skills. Must be a new graduate from an accredited school of nursing, preparing to take the NCLEX exam within six months; GPA of 3.0 or above preferred.Licensure/Certification:
Current BLS required. Must be actively registered as an STNA in the State of Ohio; OR As an RN student, have completed 2ndquarter or 1stsemester clinicals in a Nursing Associate's Degree or diploma program or be a 2ndyear student in a B.S.N program; OR As an LPN student, have completed2ndquarter or 1stsemester clinicals in a Licensed Practical Nurse Training Program.Experience:
Previous experience as a Patient Care Tech or Unit Secretary is preferred. Preferred experience with ADL documentation and working knowledge. Must have experience working with the adult and geriatric population.Skills:
Must have excellent "customer service" skills, including the ability to exhibit patience and tact with all constituents including physicians, patients and associates. Must demonstrate flexibility with work schedule changes, be cooperative and collaborative, and have the documented ability to work with speed and proficiency while under stress.Must have basic computer skills and EMR (electronic medical records) experience.
