Position Summary Professional registered nurse who provides clinical expertise and hands-on instruction to new and/or current staff nurses in the role as Clinical Coordinator. Instructs the provision of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation in respective clinical area according to policies and procedures. Effectively interacts with the patient, family members and healthcare team members while maintaining the standards of professional nursing. Also responsible for supporting the established philosophy and framework of Nursing Administration, and the promotion of safe, appropriate and cost-effective nursing care. Meets all standards and requirements of LMHS universal job description. Responsibilities Coordinates precepting new employees in Maternity Services, fill in for precepting new employees as needed. Works with providers, Manager, and Director to identify education needs of staff and implements education plan accordingly Demonstrates/validates proper procedure with specialized procedures/equipment Work with clinical staff to provide patient care and department coverage, as needed Prepares and coordinates staff and patient education material Conduct literature reviews and implement best practice changes Establish and conduct annual unit-specific competencies for all staff Help in planning and teaching hospital-wide clinical skills days Coordinate NRP/EFM for Maternity Services Assist with Mock CODES Close participation in Department Surveys including White Glove Survey, Joint Commission, DNV, and ODH Maternity Licensure Maintain staff education records Building and implementing competencies in the hospital electronic platform. Plan and implement multidisciplinary drills as required by ODH, Joint Commission, and DNV Attend Clinical Coordinator Meetings, Policy and Procedure Meetings Participate on Nurse Practice Council and Maternity Specific Committees Assist/facilitate hospital wide and unit specific classes Requirements Current R.N. licensure for Ohio and maintain BSN Required Current
CPR/ACLS/EFM
certification and maintain Obtain and Maintain NRP Instructor Certification Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff, physicians, patients, families, and visitors. Must possess analytical abilities and sound patient care knowledge necessary to support provision of all aspects of patient care. Maintain knowledge of new technology and equipment Strong commitment to evidence-based practice. Review and implement best practice guidelines from Guidelines for Perinatal Care, ACOG, AWHONN, AAP. LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
