Austin Rooted Birth & Wellness an established birthing center is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and natural-minded Full-Time Staff Midwife to join our growing team. This position provides comprehensive out-of-hospital maternity care across two birth center locations in Central Texas. We are looking for a midwife who deeply values physiological birth, informed choice, relationship-based care, and supporting families through the full spectrum of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and newborn care. The ideal candidate is confident in autonomous practice, passionate about protecting normal birth, and experienced in integrating holistic and traditional approaches into maternity care. You will work collaboratively within a group practice alongside other midwives while maintaining continuity of care for clients throughout their childbearing journey. Our model emphasizes individualized care, client education, prevention-focused wellness, and supporting the emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of pregnancy and birth. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive prenatal, labor, birth, postpartum, and newborn care within a licensed birth center setting. Support and protect the physiological process of pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum recovery. Conduct prenatal assessments, physical examinations, risk screening, and ongoing client education. Attend births in the birth center setting and manage normal labor, birth, and immediate postpartum care. Assess and care for newborns through the postpartum period, including routine newborn screenings and breastfeeding support. Provide well-woman care, family planning counseling, and preconception education as appropriate. Maintain accurate and timely documentation within electronic medical records while ensuring HIPAA compliance. Develop individualized care plans that honor informed choice and client autonomy. Recognize deviations from normal, initiate appropriate interventions, and coordinate consultation, transfer, or transport when necessary. Collaborate professionally with physicians, hospitals, lactation consultants, doulas, chiropractors, therapists, and other community providers. Participate in on-call responsibilities, clinic days, births, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives. Support student midwives and contribute to a positive learning environment when applicable. Preferred Qualifications Current Licensed Midwife (LM), Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), or eligibility for Texas licensure. Demonstrated experience attending births in home birth and/or birth center settings. Current CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. Strong clinical assessment and emergency management skills. Experience with newborn care, breastfeeding support, and postpartum management. Excellent communication, documentation, and client education skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment. Commitment to evidence-based care while honoring traditional and holistic approaches.
