For over 40 years, we have been a cornerstone of maternal health equity and out-of-hospital birth in the Rio Grande Valley. We believe that birth is a profound physiological life event, and we fiercely protect the time required to build deep, unhurried trust with our clients. Operating out of four beautiful, private birth houses on a tranquil property in Weslaco, Texas, we provide an environment where you can truly practice the traditional art of holistic midwifery care within a supportive, community-based setting. The Role We are looking for a dedicated Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) to join our collaborative clinical team. You will work alongside our Director of Clinical Operations, Staff RNs, and Medical Assistants to provide exceptional, evidence-based care to our diverse community. This is a hands-on clinical role where you will support families through their entire pregnancy journey, from initial prenatal visits through labor, birth, and postpartum recovery. You will have the time and space to provide highly personalized, trauma-informed care while leaning on a strong facility structure for emergency support, peer review, and quality assurance.
What You Will Do Provide Full-Scope Care:
Deliver comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care in a freestanding birth center setting.
Attend Births:
Serve as the primary midwife for labor and delivery, protecting physiological birth while vigilantly monitoring for maternal or fetal risk factors.
Collaborate and Communicate:
Work closely with our clinical leadership, engaging in shared decision-making and seamless care coordination for every family.
Ensure Safety:
Recognize evolving obstetric risk factors and coordinate timely escalation, transfer, or emergency response in line with our established clinical protocols.
Documentation Excellence:
Complete accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation within 24 hours of patient encounters to support quality patient care and billing processes.
Empower Families:
Use culturally responsive communication to educate and empower patients, ensuring they feel completely supported in their healthcare choices.
What We Are Looking For The Basics:
Current Texas midwifery license (CPM or LM) in good standing. Active BLS and NRP certifications are strictly required.
The Experience:
1 to 3 years of out-of-hospital birth experience is highly preferred. Experience serving Medicaid and diverse patient populations is a massive plus.
The Vibe:
You combine sound clinical judgment with warmth and accountability. You value physiological birth just as much as you value safety protocols, continuous quality improvement, and clear communication.
Language:
Being bilingual (English and Spanish) is highly preferred to best serve our patient base but isn't a requirement.
Physical Requirements:
You must be able to perform the essential duties of this position with or without reasonable accommodations. This includes the ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, remain clinically active for extended periods, and respond quickly alongside the team during urgent situations.
The Perks & Pay Salary:
$60,000 to $70,000 base pay.
On-Site Housing & Relocation:
Relocating to the Valley? We provide on-site transition housing to give you a comfortable place to land while you look for a permanent home. We also use this housing for our on-call shifts, so you never have to drive home exhausted after a birth.
Time Off:
A generous PTO policy to ensure our providers actually get the rest they need to prevent burnout.
Coverage:
Your malpractice insurance is 100% covered by the clinic. To Apply Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter detailing your experience with out-of-hospital birth and your alignment with our community mission. Holy Family Services, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
