SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join our OB/GYN inpatient team working nights and weekends. This role is ideal for CNMs who are passionate about hospital based obstetric care and thrive in a collaborative, high acuity environment. This is a 100% inpatient position with no outpatient clinic responsibilities.Position Overview:
The Certified Nurse Midwife will provideprehensive inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care, supporting labor and delivery services while collaborating closely with OB/GYN physicians, maternal fetal medicine specialists, residents, and nursing staff. This role focuses on labor management, triage, and inpatient consultations, offering the opportunity to practice at the top of your license in a supportive, academic-affiliated environment.Key Responsibilities:
Manage and support labor and delivery patients Perform patient assessments in obstetric triage Assist with cesarean sections Provide gynecology consults for inpatient and emergency department patients Conduct postpartum rounding, including weekend day shifts Manage phonemunications for antepartum and postpartum patients Collaborate with OB/GYN physicians, MFMs, residents, and nursing leadership Participate in high-quality, evidence-based obstetric care aligned with ACOG and SMFM standardsSchedule & FTE:
0.8 FTE (32 hours/week) Night shifts: Monday to Friday 7:00 PM- 7:00 AM Weekend shifts: Saturday to Sunday 7:00 AM
- 7:00 AM Minimum of one weekend per month No call schedule Shift based role only (no travel required) Workload may vary; on call OB/GYN physician backup is available for high volume orplex cases Some scheduling flexibility available

Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialists OB/GYN generalists Nocturnists Certified Nurse Midwives Surgical APPs and clinic basedAPPs Requirements:
Master's degree and advanced certifications One year nursing experienceState of Work Location:
Wisconsin Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS-HCP)- American Heart Association (AHA) AND Registered Nurse (RN)
- Missouri Division of Professional Registration or RN Compact State License AND Certified Midwife (CM)
- American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) AND Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP)
- Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services CNMs maintain independent clinical practices, including triage, deliveries, and rounding, within a highly collaborative and supportive care model.
