Job Description

The Music Academy for Special Learners is expanding! We are seeking a part-time Music Therapist to join our team. This role will involve providing services at our Hauppauge office, in-person and telehealth sessions. As part of our team, you will join a diverse group of 30 music therapists, art therapists, music educators, and art educators dedicated to serving a wide range of communities across Long Island. Qualifications Board Certification (MT-BC required) Valid license and reliable transportation Professional clinical experience (preferred) Master's (preferred) LCAT (preferred) Bilingual (preferred) Responsibilities Facilitate individual and group music therapy sessions and adaptive lessons to best the needs of The Music Academy's clientele Educate participant and family members about our services including benefits, purpose, and how to incorporate into daily life Maintain a caseload and ensure accurate and timely assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation Use evidence-based treatment to address needs and preferences Act professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of work Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences and acts as a clinical resource for the team when needed Act as the participant's advocate Aid in organization of music rooms, staff space, instruments, storage, sheet music/books Maintain, repair, and clean musical instruments, and equipment Support the development of relationships with contracted facilities Assist in the training of music therapy students Provide open hours for make-up appointments Schedule The position is part-time with opportunities to expand service days/hours. The schedule for this position is: Monday 11am-7pm Friday 11am-7pm Saturday 10am-5pm
COMPENSATION
$25-30 dollars per hour based on service hours with paid documentation, travel time, and breaks.
