The Music Therapist role within the UH Cleveland Medical Center offers a unique chance to become part of a dynamic, collaborative interdisciplinary team. This position adds value to patient care and significantly assists individuals with various issues. We currently offer an opportunity for a Full Time Days, Music Therapist to support adult patients and families in Cleveland. Joining our team comes with several benefits, including: Free parking for regular status caregivers Tuition reimbursement Full benefits and retirement Support for continuing education, career growth, and professional development What You Will Do Assess, develop, implement and evaluate Music Therapy interventions to address the age-specific psychosocial and physiological needs of hospitalized adults and their families Plan and implement music therapy groups for inpatients/outpatients/staff Evaluate and mentor practicum and internship students as appropriate Professional growth, information sharing and collaboration Create and implement innovative ways to secure funding Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Education Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy (Required) and Member American Music Therapy Association (Preferred) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Demonstrate competence with a variety of musical instruments and skills (i.e., transposition, improvisation, song writing, instrumental/vocal arranging, drumming, and adapting instruments and therapeutic music interventions) to a variety of culturally, ethnically, racially diverse, medically, developmentally and physiologically impaired patients. (Required proficiency) Knowledge of research design and methodology, patient assessment and evaluation techniques. (Required proficiency) Strong interest in multi-disciplinary team approach. (Required proficiency) Basic computer knowledge (Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Board Certification (MT-BC) or eligible (Required within 90 Days) Position Details This Music Therapist will be working with adults on the inpatient side 3 days per week, floating to all units of hospital. The other 2 days will provide community support programming.
