Job Description

Overview Our brand new dual-diagnosis treatment center, Haven Detox Tulsa , is seeking a compassionate and creative Music Therapist to lead therapeutic groups one day a week . This role focuses on group facilitation using music-based interventions to support clients in their mental-health and substance-use recovery journey.
Schedule:
1x a week, flexibility with days Key Responsibilities Facilitate weekly music therapy groups for adults in a dual-diagnosis inpatient treatment setting Use evidence-based music interventions to support emotional expression, coping skills, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and interpersonal connection Collaborate with the clinical and operations teams to ensure groups align with treatment goals and ASAM-informed care planning Maintain a safe, inclusive, and trauma-sensitive group environment Document group participation and progress in the EMR (e.g., KIPU or equivalent behavioral-health EMR) Adapt music programming to meet clients where they are clinically, culturally, and motivationally Support program structure and compliance by delivering consistent, scheduled therapeutic engagement Participate in clinical communication and handoff related to group outcomes when necessary Qualifications Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) required Bachelor's degree or higher in Music Therapy from an accredited program Group facilitation experience preferred Experience in a behavioral health or substance-use treatment setting is a plus Understanding of mental-health, substance-use, and co-occurring disorders (dual-diagnosis care) EMR documentation experience preferred Ability to engage clients therapeutically while maintaining structure and boundaries Strong interpersonal and communication skills Preferred (Not Required) Prior experience in inpatient dual-diagnosis, residential, detox, PHP, or IOP levels of care Familiarity with 12-step or recovery-supportive treatment models Experience facilitating expressive or experiential therapy groups Core Competencies Creative clinical engagement through music Trauma-informed and client-centered group delivery Clear, compliant clinical documentation Strong collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment teams Reliable adherence to weekly schedule and program structure Physical & Work Environment This position is on-site and involves leading groups in a clinical milieu setting Requires standing, music demonstration, and active client interaction during group sessions
