Job:
General Summary of Position Responsible for the preparation of the patient the conduct of various standard complex and special procedures electroneurodiagnostic studies and the collection of information pertinent to the interpretation of tests. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Performs Electroencephalogram (EEG) studies including long-term epilepsy monitoring including ECS recordings evoked potentials cortical brain mapping WADA evoked potentials and ambulatory EEG with special parameter monitoring END for adult pediatric neonatal patients and other special studies under the minimal supervision in the various labs of the department on the nursing units and intraoperatively. Functions as a work leader to assist in the workload distribution among area's work staff suggesting technical innovations and plans work schedules which include assigning priorities according to load and clinical urgency. Using best judgement summarizes the patient's neurologic status and clinical history from the chart patient or other knowledgeable person and explains the recording procedure to the patient and any family members present. Adapts methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on history clinical observations and END findings. Provides appropriate patient care and detailed observations of clinical manifestations during seizures and other emergency situations. Ensures electrical safety of the patient. Follows infection control and OSHA standards and guidelines. Completes all necessary record keeping and storing of records or graphs. Keeps equipment in clean operating condition performs maintenance and minor repair of laboratory equipment and reports the need for major repairs. Participates in conferences technical meetings and other educations activities and serves as inservice training instructor for END Technician Technologist trainees and other medical personnel. Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts. Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Assumes other duties as assigned Minimal Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required or Associate's degree preferably in a science related field. preferred One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience. Experience 1-2 years Working in neurodiagnostic field. required One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education. Licenses and Certifications R-EEGT•Registered Electroencephalographic Technician Board registration in one of the following END fields•(R.EEG T.)
CLTM R.NCVT. R.EMG T. CLTM.
preferred and CPR•Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required and Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Current knowledge of basic EEG evoked-potentials and/or nerve conduction studies. Must be able to follow detailed instructions on all procedures. Able to establish good rapport with patients public and the staff. Able to work with severely ill patients. Has sound independent judgement and initiative. This position has a hiring range of : USD $29.73•USD $53.49 /Hr.
