Outpatient neurology practice Company Overview A growing outpatient neurology practice in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a Neurodiagnostic Technician to support its expanding diagnostic testing department. This position is ideal for a patient-focused technician with hands-on experience performing EEG studies, assisting with nerve conduction velocity testing, and supporting EMG procedures in a clinical, hospital, neurology, or diagnostic testing environment. The practice has invested in building out its neurodiagnostic services and is adding another team member to support continued patient volume, provider needs, and diagnostic workflow. This role offers the opportunity to join a collaborative clinical team and contribute directly to high-quality neurological care in an outpatient setting. Position Overview The Neurodiagnostic Technician will be responsible for performing routine EEG studies, assisting with NCV testing, supporting EMG procedures, preparing patients for diagnostic testing, documenting relevant clinical information, maintaining equipment readiness, and ensuring an excellent patient experience. This role requires strong technical skill, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work comfortably with patients who may be experiencing neurological symptoms, pain, weakness, numbness, seizure activity, or other complex clinical presentations. The ideal candidate will bring EEG experience and have exposure to EMG and NCV testing. Candidates with strong EEG experience who are willing and able to expand their skill set into EMG/NCV support may also be considered. Key Responsibilities
  • EEG Testing o Perform routine EEG studies in accordance with established clinical protocols and technical standards.
o Prepare patients for EEG testing by explaining the procedure, obtaining relevant history, and ensuring patient comfort. o Measure and apply electrodes using proper placement standards and ensure appropriate impedance levels and signal quality. o Monitor EEG recordings in real time and make adjustments to improve study quality. o Identify and document patient activity, artifacts, clinical events, and other relevant observations during testing. o Perform activation procedures as ordered, which may include hyperventilation, photic stimulation, or other approved testing components. o Ensure EEG studies are complete, technically accurate, and properly documented for provider interpretation.
    EMG / NCV
    Support o Assist providers and clinical staff with nerve conduction velocity testing and EMG procedures. o Prepare patients for EMG and NCV testing by explaining the process, positioning the patient, and ensuring comfort throughout the procedure. o Support proper setup of equipment, electrodes, supplies, and testing areas for nerve conduction and EMG studies. o Assist with obtaining and documenting relevant patient history, symptoms, pain location, numbness, weakness, and other clinical information needed for testing. o Help maintain efficient diagnostic workflow during EMG and NCV appointments. o Monitor patient comfort and communicate any concerns to the provider or appropriate clinical staff. o Clean, organize, and prepare rooms and equipment between procedures.
    • Documentation & Clinical Workflow o Accurately document patient history, medications, symptoms, testing notes, observations, and technical details.
    o Maintain organized records within the electronic medical record and/or diagnostic testing system. o Communicate relevant patient concerns, technical issues, or workflow needs to providers and clinical team members. o Follow established protocols for urgent findings, patient events, or clinical concerns. o Support physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff with diagnostic testing needs.
    • Equipment, Quality & Compliance o Prepare, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot EEG, EMG, NCV, and related neurodiagnostic equipment.
    o Ensure testing rooms, supplies, electrodes, and diagnostic work areas are clean, stocked, and ready for patient care. o Follow infection control, HIPAA, patient safety, documentation, and clinic compliance standards. o Maintain a professional, organized, and efficient testing environment. o Help ensure all diagnostic studies are completed with strong technical quality and appropriate documentation.
    • Patient Experience o Provide a calm, professional, and reassuring experience for patients undergoing neurological testing.
    o Communicate clearly with patients and families before, during, and after procedures. o Demonstrate patience, empathy, and professionalism with patients experiencing discomfort, anxiety, neurological symptoms, or mobility limitations. o Help ensure each patient understands the testing process and feels supported throughout the visit. Required Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Prior experience performing EEG studies in a clinical, hospital, neurology, outpatient, or diagnostic testing environment.
    • Experience assisting with EMG and/or NCV testing preferred.
    • Knowledge of EEG electrode placement, recording procedures, artifact recognition, and basic neurodiagnostic testing standards.
    • Ability to prepare patients, apply electrodes, monitor studies, and document testing details accurately.
    • Comfort working with patients experiencing neurological symptoms, pain, numbness, weakness, seizure activity, or related conditions.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality diagnostic studies.
    • Strong communication and patient-care skills.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating with providers, technicians, and clinical staff.
    • Basic computer skills and comfort using electronic medical records or diagnostic testing software.
    • Professional, dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple patients, procedures, and workflow priorities throughout the day. Preferred Qualifications
    R. EEG T., CNCT, R. NCS.
    T., or related neurodiagnostic credential preferred but not required.
    • Experience working in an outpatient neurology clinic.
    • Experience with routine EEGs, EMG assistance, nerve conduction studies, or other neurodiagnostic testing.
    • Familiarity with seizure disorders, neuropathy, radiculopathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, muscle weakness, numbness, pain syndromes, and related neurological presentations.
    • Experience assisting with diagnostic testing for both adult and geriatric patients.
    • BLS certification preferred.

    Pay:
    $26.55 - $40.00 per hour
