Job Description

Position Summary:
The Neurodiagnostics Tech performs a variety of neurodiagnostic procedures to support the evaluation and treatment of patients across the lifespan, including neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. Under the supervision of neurodiagnostic leadership, this role conducts electroencephalograms (EEG), otoacoustic emissions, evoked potentials, and related studies in both routine and critical care settings. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams, the Neuro diagnostics Tech contributes to accurate diagnosis, patient safety, and high-quality neurological care through precise testing, thorough documentation, and consistent adherence to clinical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform EEGs and other neurodiagnostic procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and physician orders. Conduct neurodiagnostic testing on critically ill patients, including those in intensive care and monitored care units. Prepare patients and equipment for procedures, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and understanding of the testing process. Monitor patient status and recording quality during procedures, identifying and addressing artifacts or clinical changes as needed. Document procedures, observations, and technical findings accurately in the electronic health record. Maintain neurodiagnostic equipment, supplies, and testing areas in compliance with safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
Registration or eligible for registration in EEG or EP by ABRET is highly recommended. Basic Life Support (CPR) required within 30 days of hire.
Educational Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited END technology program or equivalent formal training is highly recommended.
Experience Requirements:
6 months of experience in EEG or neurodiagnostic testing
Special Skills or Training Requirements:
PC experience required.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and positioning of patients and equipment throughout inpatient and outpatient care areas. The position involves assisting with patient movement, transporting equipment, and working in confined clinical spaces. Adequate vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and the ability to communicate clearly are required to operate equipment, observe patient responses, and respond quickly in clinical situations.
Environmental Requirements:
The Neurodiagnostics Tech works in hospital and clinical environments, including inpatient units, intensive care units, and procedural areas. The role involves exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, medical equipment, alarms, and varying noise levels. Adherence to infection prevention practices, use of personal protective equipment, and compliance with safety protocols are required, along with the ability to function effectively in fast-paced and high-acuity settings.
