GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
This position works closely with the neurologist and other healthcare providers to assist with the diagnosis of conditions such as epilepsy, strokes, sleep disorders, brain injuries, and nerve dysfunction by performing specialized diagnostic tests that record electrical activity and neurological responses.

  • Maintains the utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to hospital policies, procedures, and corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ethical business practices and professional conduct in all interactions.
  • Performs routine EEG setup and acquisition for inpatient and outpatient studies.
  • Performs Long-Term Monitoring (LTM) setup, maintenance, and discontinuation.
  • Conducts Evoked Potential (EP) studies, including:
  • Visual Evoked Potentials (VEP)
  • Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SSEP)
  • Brainstem Auditory Evoked Responses (BAER)
  • Performs Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), including motor and sensory testing.
  • Assists with workflow for combined EMG/NCS procedures when applicable.
  • Troubleshoots technical issues, including impedance management and artifact reduction.
  • Maintains equipment in good working order and ensures proper functionality prior to studies.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies required for diagnostic procedures.
  • Educates patients and families on procedures, including event marker use when applicable.
  • Coordinates with nursing staff and providers regarding patient status and clinical changes.
  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation of all studies.
  • Coordinates study readiness to facilitate efficient physician interpretation and reporting.
  • Maintains organized and accurate record-keeping and filing systems.
  • Handles inpatient and outpatient reports, ensuring proper routing and delivery.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of workflows for LTM, EP, and NCS services.
  • Supports expansion of diagnostic capabilities within the department.
  • Participates in department and hospital-wide process improvement activities.
  • Assists with training and knowledge-sharing for new staff and developing service lines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in a related field of study such as Applied Science in Neurodiagnostic Technology; or two-years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • required. Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in a related field of study
  • preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.

  • Certified EKG Technician (CET)
  • Required
  • Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (REEGT); or
  • Eligible for and able to obtain ABRET Registered EEG Technologist (R.
EEG T.) credential within 24 months of employment. Until all children are well.
