Job Description
Qualifications Required • An appropriate credential in nuclear medicine technology (i.e., certification [Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT, NCT or PET) or Registered Technologist (Nuclear) ARRT(N) credential in the U.S.] and/or state license to practice as a nuclear medicine technologist). • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Job Description Nuclear Medicine Technical staff responsibilities include but are not limited to: o Unload/record deliveries from the radiopharmacy and dispose/record empty doses ready for return o Explain testing procedures and obtain informed consent o Start patient IVs and draw any requested lab work o Administer radiopharmaceuticals for rest/stress imaging o Perform rest/stress imaging and processing o Prepare patients for stress testing (preparing EKG, testing IVs, taking blood pressures, entering information into system, etc.) o Perform exercise and pharmacologic stress testing as needed o Maintain Quality Control schedule (daily/weekly camera QC, wipes and area surveys, QC on non-imaging instruments, collect and disperse dosimetry badges/rings, etc.) o Perform daily back up, dose disposal, and reports o Print daily schedules and check for changes o Complete/prepare charting for upcoming daily schedules o Check each patient's health insurance provider, call to pre-certify testing if necessary, and document accordingly o Check basic inventory and re-stock/order any needed supplies o Participate in departmental Quality Assurance audits and in-services o Follow HIPAA, ALARA, safety, and policy/procedure guidelines as outlined in department manual
