Job Description

PET Technician Full Time/Part Time
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Reports to the Department Supervisor for Advanced Imaging. Administers diagnostic and therapeutic radionuclides for the detection and treatment of disease.
DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC PROCEDURES
Prepares and administers appropriate radio pharmaceutical in order to achieve optimal exam. Operates computers and scanning equipment to obtain optimal images based on radiologist approval.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Works in a Clinic office and patient environment. Will be exposed to numerous disease processes as well as low level radiation exposure. Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e. to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time, push charts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, to position/lift patients at a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted, over 35 pounds requires assistance, provide CPR, etc) to perform the essential functions of the position.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful registration with the ARRT (N), NMTCB (CNMT), or Indiana State Department of Health certification.
Board certification from:
ARRT (N), CNMT (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) or PET Certified Technician. Must have basic knowledge of pharmaceutical preparation, computer acquisition and theory of nuclear medicine. Up to one (1) year experience as Nuclear Medicine Technologist or PET Certified Technician is required.
