Hours for this role may vary depending on company needs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Treat patients, family members, guests, health care team members, physicians, and other associates with care, courtesy, and respect. Consistently anticipates the needs of customers and puts those needs first. Demonstrates commitment to service and contributes to creating a positive environment. Greets and confirms patient identification by verbal confirmation. Describes nature of the time requirement of requested procedure to patient and/or family members present. Reviews clinical information regarding patient's physical condition, preliminary diagnosis, and appropriateness of exam. If any questions exist after this review, patient's physician will be contacted. Records patient history, unusual conditions / limitations and other information that may be relevant to patient's exam. Adheres to all Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) guidelines as they pertain to PET/CT imaging. Maintain documentation in accordance with guidelines established by the NRC. Performs blood glucose monitoring according to established protocols. If blood glucose is above 250-mg/dL, interpreting radiologist and referring physician will be notified. Starts patient IV per IV protocol. Handles and injects all radiopharmaceuticals using the As Low As Reasonably Achievable guidelines (ALARA). Calibrates, administers and documents radiopharmaceutical according to injection protocol to patients undergoing PET/CT procedure. Prepares and administers contrast media, if indicated. Observes patients for a change in status and follows prescribed procedures if a change takes place. Recognizes emergency situations; initiates emergency procedures, administers first aid/CPR or call 911 as needed. Performs standard PET/CT imaging procedures on patients, which includes assisting patients in required anatomical body positions and adjusting the equipment to encompass the area to be studied. Adjust the controls and equipment in accordance with prescribed procedures in order to produce information of required diagnostic quality. Reviews images for proper positioning technique and identification. Provides radiation protection to patient, staff, and self-according to prescribed safety standards. Report excessive radiation exposure to proper authorities. Performs quality control procedures on all instruments to insure that all equipment is in proper working order. Record status of results in equipment logbook. Uses appropriate instrumentation to monitor personnel, work areas, and patient injection rooms to ensure levels of radiation do not exceed levels defined by institutional and state regulations. Report excessive radiation exposures to proper authorities. Receives and checks all radionuclide shipments for contamination according to radiation safety regulations. Disposes of radioactivity and contaminated materials in accordance with institutional and state regulations. Report excessive radiation exposure to proper authorities. Verifies end of month statement for radiopharmaceutical dosages/charges. Gives on the job training to new staff members in all facets of the PET/CT operation. Flexible and able to accept change. Maintain professional and ethical relationships with all internal and external customers. Promotes teamwork by helping in other areas when not needed or when own immediate workload has lapsed. Assists in all areas of the
PET / CT
Center as required. Adheres to policies, including attendance, tardiness, and dress code, etc. Assists with scheduling and screening of patients as needed. Cross-train in a clerical rotation. Adheres to the confidentiality policy which includes verbal, written, computer generated, computer accessed, filmed and recorded information related to patients, their family, and visitors, staff, physicians, and clients. Responsible for the protection of confidentiality of data at all times. Accountable for promoting good relations with physicians, nurses, physician extenders, office staff, and co-workers. Maintain clean and orderly work area. Be familiar with all FWR policies. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
Must be able to lift 75 pounds; 150 pounds shared lifting. Diplomacy Problem solving Critical thinking Utilizing highly technical knowledge to optimize procedure outcomes Good verbal and written skills Organized and detail oriented Intercultural competence Maintain patient and staff confidentiality Demonstrate knowledge of radiation safety techniques and biohazard containment Utilizes all ALARA principles Must be graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine technology program or an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology Must be certified or eligible with NMTCB or ARRT (N). Must be certified within one month of employment. Can also meet registry requirements as specified by the Indiana State Board of Health. CPR Certification within one month of employment Indiana state license Experience as registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist, preferred EPIC experience, preferred.
